For over a decade, I have devoted my energy, effort, and life savings to building ADM Performance. ADM Performance is a specialty company that sells high-value, specialized automotive parts online and in-house. Adm Performance lends a hand to many small and large companies, helping companies improve and grow. Our customers depend on us for precision, and we depend on shipping carriers to carry out the single job they are paid for: delivering goods safely and efficiently.
When a shipping problem happens, I always do what I believe is right. I promptly send a replacement item to the customer without delay or hesitation. I willingly absorb the substantial financial loss, so our customers are taken care of. I stand with my customers. But who stands with me?
Over the past ten years, we have experienced tens of thousands of dollars in high-value shipments going missing through UPS.
If you have never run an e-commerce business, you might think, “Just submit an insurance claim and get reimbursed.” The reality is that the system does not work properly. For a decade, every lost shipment has turned into an administrative struggle. I have spent countless hours on hold, trapped in automated phone systems, and trying to explain complex shipping issues to support staff who are “impossible” to understand and unable to actually fix the problems.
The difficult truth is that in 20+ years of business, UPS has never fully reimbursed us for the value of a lost product, not even close. They collect shipping fees, lose our high-value inventory, deny claims, and face no real consequences. While I personally cover replacement costs for customers, UPS keeps the revenue and provides no resolution.
At this moment, ADM Performance has reached a critical turning point.
In just three months, UPS has lost $10,000 worth of our specialized shipments. Because these failures have not been reimbursed, the financial strain has deeply affected my household.
I am writing this from a place of frustration and urgency because I currently struggle to pay just our electricity bill. It is 100+ degrees outside, and while UPS executives operate from air-conditioned offices managing large profits, my small business is struggling to stay afloat. To make matters worse, today I once again tried to resolve a claim and was left waiting on hold indefinitely without any response or resolution. After that, I attempted to close my UPS account to end the service after 20+years. Instead, I encountered an automated message stating there is a 30-minute wait just to speak with someone in order to close the account. God only knows how this will go.
They do not reliably deliver our packages, they do not resolve our claims, and they make it as difficult as humanly possible to even stop using their service without navigating endless automated barriers.
This is not only about automotive parts or missing shipments. It is affecting my family’s ability to get by. This is the part where the caring part can no longer exist, because there is no human involved—just computerized AI robots with zero compassion for human life.
Because of this $10,000 loss, I am struggling to provide for four people who depend on my income. It is also putting at risk our ability to cover monthly assisted living costs for my 86-year-old father, who worked hard his entire life and now relies on this support.
I am honest ,law-abiding taxpayer who does everything expected of me. I pay the bills, serve our customers, and care for our elderly relatives. Yet we are facing severe consequences from repeated shipping losses and unresolved claims.
Let’s raise awareness. Let’s ensure that online sellers, automotive enthusiasts, and consumers understand how UPS is affecting businesses like ours.
For the last few words:
I am not looking for sympathy, I don’t expect anything for free
from anyone. I just want to be heard.
