As I’ve posted previously, due to health issues and concerns, I’ve had to limit my work hours.

This, obviously, slows down the turn around time for work.

Most headwork and cylinder work still can be turned around in a timely manner.

However, other, more time consuming work, such as airflow porting, and complete engine building, may take somewhat longer.

It’s always best to phone, and converse with me personally,
for current work load, and estimated turn around time.

Thanks to all for 58 years of support !

Looking forward to many more years of supporting our favorite sport, and keeping our favorite rides on the road!!

When using a camshaft other than stock, clearances must be checked.

This Norton 850 build will be using the PW3 camshaft.

The cam lobes did not have proper clearance in the case cam tunnel, so the tunnel must be machined out, so as to provide for the necessary clearance.

This clearance is also crucial for lubrication of the camshaft/cam follower interface.

Both sides of the case require machining.

The previous builder of this engine used an unknown aftermarket cam, and obviously did not check the loce clearance.
Aa a result, the exhaust lobes were lightly contacting the case bore, distributing metal throughout the engine, causing other damage.

The 13th Norton Production Racer to come out of the Norton Race shop.

A total restoration for a client in New York.

Each Production Racer was hand built at the Norton race shop by former AJS rider and senior development engineer, Peter Inchley.

It’s believed that fewer than 200 original Norton Commando Production Racers were built, making them one of the most highly sought after Commando model variants, if not the most desirable.

The Norton Race shop, located at Andover, Hampshire, was the site of the famous Thruxton racetrack.

During the War, it had been an airbase for American bombers and included several enormous hangars big enough to accommodate a B-17.

Norton-Villiers chief,at that time, was Dennis Poore.
He had negotiated for one of the old hangers, and moved his race shop into it.

Dubbed “The Long Shop”. Poore recruited the talent he needed in former AJS racer and developmental engineer Peter Inchley.

He also recruited one of the world’s best developmental riders, Peter Williams.

It didn’t hurt that they had the Truxton track in their backyard!

Just got this information in!!!

One of the United Kingdom’s most enduring brands will proceed with plans to build the quintessentially British electric motorcycle.

Lucas, the world leader in electrical components, has determined after decades of deliberation to finally push ahead with plans for an electric vehicle wholly of its own design.

The Lucas electric motorcycle, to be called the “Prince” in homage to the company’s founder, Joseph Lucas, who died in 1902, taking with him to the grave his secrets of how to make reliable electrical parts. Since that time, the company has been awarded more wisecracks than any other.

Lucas has led in many important innovations since, including the first intermittent windshield wipers, the first self-dimming headlights, and the first anti-theft starter interrupt devices among its several inventions.

The company has also long extolled safe driving practices, as exemplified by its motto: “get home before dark.”

Lucas’s 2020 Electric Vehicle will be based on a design originally conceived in 1948. The company had intended to build the EV in the 1960’s but the plans were thought destroyed when the company’s then-chief engineer’s prototype bike caught fire.

The blueprints were recently rediscovered in fine shape in a back room, after having been overlooked for decades due to poor light.
