The last conversation I had with my friend was about fixing his truck.

After losing him to su***de this week, I keep coming back to that ordinary conversation and wishing we’d had more of them.

That’s why The Tread Life means so much to me. A truck, a trail, or a garage project gives us a reason to get together. It can also give us room to talk about what’s going on in our lives.

I put some of those thoughts into a new blog: “The Last Conversation Was About His Truck.”

Read it here:
https://www.thetreadlife.org/blogs/trail-chat/the-last-conversation-was-about-his-truck

If someone came to mind while reading this, reach out. Ask how the build is going. Invite them over. Leave room for a conversation.

Air down. Open up.

If you’re struggling or worried about someone, call or text 988 for support in the U.S.

After losing a friend to su***de, The Tread Life reflects on friendship, garage conversations, and making room for mental health support.

“Did you hear the news?”
A message that nobody wants to get. Yesterday, I lost another friend to su***de.
It’s a painful reminder that we never really know what the people around us are going through.
The Tread Life was built on the idea that our shared passion for trucks, Jeeps, and the off-road community can be about something bigger than the vehicles themselves.
Sometimes a conversation about a truck is just a conversation about a truck. Other times, it might be an opportunity to connect with someone who needs it more than we realize.
Check on your friends. Make time for the people in your life. And if you’re struggling, please know you don’t have to face it alone.
The vehicles bring us together. The people are why we’re here.
Air down. Open up.

hit the trail yesterday in North Idaho. Definitely a fun adventure up North Idaho’s “toughest trail”. Super grateful for everyone that could make it out. If you’d like to join our next event, head over to www.thetreadlife.org to know when!

Everybody gets stuck. Sometimes it’s obvious—a tire buried in the mud, a rig sitting on the frame, a trail that looked a whole lot easier from the other side.

And when that happens, we don’t think twice about helping. We grab a strap, hook up the winch, turn around, and get somebody moving again.

But getting stuck doesn’t always happen on the trail.

September is National Recovery Month and Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, and it’s a good reminder that the people around us can be carrying things we know nothing about—addiction, depression, anxiety, grief, or just a really hard season of life.

Maybe somebody you know just needs a recovery point.

So check on your people. Send the text. Make the call. Invite them for a drive. Listen.

And if you’re the one who feels stuck, asking for a pull doesn’t mean you failed.

Sometimes everybody needs a recovery. You don’t have to take every trail alone.

Air down. Open up.
