A historic Italianate mansion was the perfect foil for Natalie and Grant’s personhood as a couple, where freedom and the feel of sun on their faces is as important as honoring history and the generations which came before them. We echoed their passions and unique story aesthetically to make celebration and self one and the same.

These feelings are everything - both to our couples in the moment and to the aesthetic which is captured in their photography, and lives on in their memories. A calm knowledge that everything is planned, co-ordinated, and under control, allows our couples to revel in the joys of the moment and anticipate what is to come - their unique celebrations, dreamed into reality.

Historical estates have always brought us childlike wonder. Whether it’s the visceral reality of imagining yourself in this spot, living a life a century ago, or just the richness of lives being written, over and over again, for generations, we have always felt a sense of wonder and reverence in the face of heritage architecture. Walls which tell stories, preserve histories, and frame lives.

Setting your celebration in a place which is already layered with life and human history adds an extra sense of magnificence to your day; you step into an inheritance as your tale melds into so many others which came before, adding your unique story to the chapters these walls already hold.

Where centuries have passed by, time seems conversely to move more slowly when set against the resplendent majesty of the past. Our clients are more fully immersed in their celebrations in such environments - because this is their love story, a moment away from your everyday reality, heightened and wonderful and almost surreal. Every fleeting moment here is special, and this reminds us to savor every second.

Our senses have a way of taking us back to special memories, and enriching them in the most beautiful way. It’s magical.

We can still feel and hear the crunch of the gravel as we walked around the breathtaking Somerley House. We can still hear the sound of the birds chirruping in the trees above us; the blackbirds’ early warning that twilight was approaching. The calming burble of the water from the fountain that has stood here for so long. It all made our hearts sing as our senses took it all in. It all enriches the beautiful memories we have of this place.

The tranquility of an English garden and sprawling grounds is something to behold. The privilege of being free to wander, and take in the serenity of such surroundings, will be forever embedded in your memory, your heart and soul.

Nature is a key inspiration for us, whether we’re designing in urban Chicago’s most exciting architecture or against such a stately English backdrop. Bringing nature, and your senses, into your celebrations is something we spend a lot of time considering, and is a huge part of the guest experience we aim to create.

We based this vision at Somerley House, an English estate as far back as the 1600s. We believe in bringing history into your story, whether that’s the Chicago skyline or an English country estate. English heritage buildings are a real passion of ours, as we style delicate, romantic detailing and floristry against a building which has seen so many stories unfold over centuries. We focus on Chicago and the UK, working with venues across England. We do, however, frequently work with clients who are based neither in the UK nor Chicago, and we are very happy to accommodate the additional complexities which come with those relationships.

How many weddings do we take on annually?

We are super selective on the number of events we take on. We never ‘divide and conquer’ to take on more weddings; if you choose K&K Celebrates as your wedding planners, you get both of us at all times! We only take on a handful of discerning couples - those whose aesthetic marries with ours, and whose prerogatives are for creating an immersive, beautiful occasion full of joy, for both their guests and themselves.
