Remembering with a heavy heart all of the innocent souls who lost their lives from the cowardly attack on the twin towers on September 11, 2001. Office workers, executives, maids and janitors, street vendors, firemen, police officers, EMTs, first responders and others ... you will always be remembered.
Where were you when you heard of the attacks? I was at a client's home in Bound Brook NJ when the news came on the tv. I don't usually meet seller clients at their homes before 9 am but that day I did. We stood there and watched events unfold. We were about 1 hour from NYC and could see the smoke from the towers. The urge to go there and help was so strong but in no time, travel to NYC was shut down as it was all going out and not in. Those who helped after the attack got there quickly or were already in the city and incoming traffic stopped.
When I was looking for a job before getting in to real estate in the early 1990s, I passed out many resumes in NYC including to companies in the twin towers. One company I remember visiting was Marvel Comics. I stopped in there to ask about a marketing job. After I started selling real estate in NJ on April 1, 1993, I received a call from a headhunter in NYC who wanted me to interview for an available position. I cannot remember if it would have been in the twin towers but I know God stopped me from getting any job in the towers as well as in NYC in general. I look back on those events now and just shake my head. That is just one reason why I thank God every day for guiding my steps.
I remember the 9/11 events very well and do so with a heavy heart. Compassion, confusion and love mix in with patriotism and anger at this point. I am not going political with this post but I truly hope we never see anything like this happen here again.
