While there, he met up with another vette nut named Ray Sanders. Being as both of these army veterans loved vettes and hanging out, they started meeting at shows together. Soon guys like Tim, Jeff and others started hanging out with them. Nothing was ever official, just a group of guys with common interests in cars and shows. We were kidding around one night with Tim and started calling our group
a Posse of Rays friends. Well, one thing lead to another and Ray nicknamed us the South Side Posse. And soon we were meeting on the weekends and at Summit on Monday. If anyone is a founder, inspiration and leader it is Ray. At the Georgia Street Rod Association meet on a Saturday afternoon, Jeff and Gordon (You believe that? Jeff and Gordon) parked next to each other and they BOTH WON that day. Twin Corvettes, shirts and cars were laughed about for days. Randy happened to be there that day, and started saying he needed to buy a shirt so HE could win a trophy too!!! It was great fun. We always agreed that we would operate on the Summit Monday Night Schedule, never have officers, or dues and just be friends having a good time. The following year, 2015, Gordon wanted to go to Motorama as a club to earn some trophies. The only phone numbers he had were for Randy Blue Vette, and Ray!!!!. So the calls were made and with five cars Gordon registered for Motorama as the South Side Street Posse. Street was added to make clear we weren't just a Corvette group. The goals have never changed, No officers, no dues, no drama, and Democracy rules. We would vote and agree on runs and such and the season was according to the Summit Racing Monday Night Car shows.
