✅Hookups Available: 50/30 amp, water, no sewage but dump station and $15 dump service available

❤️What we love: Water front sites. You can get a site right on the lake edge with grass all the way to water's edge making it perfect for splashing and swimming. All of the facilities are really new, nice, and well maintained but all has a vintage collectible charm. Including a little gas pump that makes you feel like you are going back in time. Yes, with real gas! Overall, there is just a really fun vibe here. It is more of a social hangout than a secluded camping experience.

❌What we didn't love: Sites are tight! We get it, they want to let as many people have water frontage that they can but you will be right there with your neighbor.

👍Quick Tip: Lots of boat slips available and fishing offered on site for a small fee with kids under 5 for free.

✅Hookups Available: there are primitive sites, water only sites, and water and electric sites (30/50 amp service). They also have cabins)

❤️What we love: Our family has been going to this park every summer for years! We usually camp with a large group which makes it more fun. The park is very large and has a ton to see. Of course, like most people we prefer the water front sites so we can park our boat md be able to see it. I have found that most of the sites are pretty spread out. The sites that we stay in (275-264) are very large sites and can hold pretty much any size rig. They all have very large yard spaces and easy access to the water. There are a few trails that are worth going on. One is the trail past devils water hole. It will take you to the infamous water fall, that is a perfect soak after the hike to get there.

The other trail is at the opposite end of the park and it takes you away from the lake but when you arrive at the top, you can see the entire lake. It’s pretty cool. Take plenty of water on the second trail. It’s super hot in the summer. One time we took a heat gun and measured the granite rock and it was 165 🥵. They have recently redone all of the bath houses. So if you don’t want to use your rig, the bath houses are nice. Oh and of course I can’t forget to mention Devils waterhole. It’s a great swimming hole with rocks to jump off off and a place to hang out. The hike is worth it, or if you have a kayak it’s much easier.

❌What we didn't love: There is a large flock of geese……. They p**p everywhere and it’s awful. We kindly walk towards them if they show up at our site and they quickly return to the water. And if I was to have another con: the sheer number of people at the park is astounding. Especially on a holiday weekend.

📍Location: Mill Pond Campground

⭐️Reviewer:

⛺️Campground Rating: 10/10

✅Hookups Available: Water, Generator quiet time 10 p.m. - 7 a.m

❤️What we love: The Mill Pond camping area on Caddo Lake has water front sites and easy access to the pond. The breathtaking views make this one of my favorite camping locations. (It also could be the swampy nature reviving my Louisiana roots.) Other pros to Caddo State Lake park are the playground, scenic hiking trails, canoeing through the pond out into the bay, adorable cabins, and wildlife. We spotted a deer, paddlefish, and even a baby gator! About four miles from the park is a National Wildlife Refuge with walking trails and an auto-tour route.

❌What we didn't love: We went in mid-summer and it was hot! I was not comfortable getting in the water to cool off. However, I did see some skiers in the bay. Next time, I will visit in the Fall or Spring when temperatures are cooler.

👍Quick Tip: There are ten paddle trails around Caddo Lake State Park. Study the paddle route maps before you head out. Make sure you have a good plan of where you will enter and exit the water. I suggest putting in at Crip's Camp to explore the "Old Folks Playground" paddle trail for unique scenery.

📍Location: Palo Duro Rim RV

⭐️Reviewer:

⛺️Campground Rating: 6/10

✅Hookups Available: Full hookups with 30 or 50 amp

❤️What we love: Location. Near the entrance to but also a short stroll from your campsite will lead you to the canyon rim with a beautiful overlook without even having to enter the park. They have a zip line on site which is really fun and convenient. You can partake yourself or sit on the canyon edge and watch others.

❌What we didn't love: Sites are TIGHT. This is not a campground for hanging out. More of a good place to rest your head after a day of exploring away from the campground itself with the luxury of full hookups.

👍Quick Tip: Site #15 is on the end of a row and closest to the canyon. It gives you more space to stretch out so you aren't so close to your neighbor. They do charge a small upcharge for it. This campground is a great option if you really want full hookups but if you are ok without sewage there are some great options inside the park as long as you book far enough in advance.

✅Hookups Available: Full hookups: Electric (50 or 30 amp), Water, Sewage

❤️What we love: Location! Hiking into from the campground, backs up to Paluxy river, across the street from Dinosaur World and easy drive to . Easy to park spots, nice picnic tables and fire rings at every spot. Great amenities like pool, hot tub, community fire pit, playground, a teepee and even outdoor movies and group smore roasting on select nights (we got to enjoy Back to the Future). There is also a little store on site for firewood and emergency purchases.

❌What we didn't love: Sticker burrs! Around the RV sites it is just fine but as you explore between the sites and the Paluxy River they are ruthless.

👍Quick Tip: Bring your water shoes! It is nice to hike along the river and there is a creek trail on the other side of the river from the park. You need to cross the river to get to it and splash through the creek for the short trail. You definitely need your water shoes so the rocks don't tear up your feet. There is also rumor that you can find dinosaur tracks back here but we never found them. But we also didn't try very hard!

Campground Rating: 7/10

Hookups Available: 50 or 30 amp options, no sewage but dump station available

What we love: You don't even feel like you are in Texas with the southern Utah vibes. The spots are well spaced and most have surrounding trees to make it feel private. Plus, covered picnic areas at the sites are a huge plus for for those hot Texas days. The bison will roam right up into your campsite so do keep a close eye on it. But it really cool to watch from the safety inside your camper.

What we didn't love: Amenities are very out dated and when you see "playground" on the map it is really an old swing set.

Quick Tip: Bring your food and everything you may need. There aren't a whole lot of dining options nearby. This is a great half way stop if you are making a longer trip out West to Utah, Colorado, New Mexico etc.

✅Hookups Available: Full hookups: Electric (50 or 30 amp), Water, Sewage

❤️What we love: A kid's paradise! Warning: Do not come if you want peace and tranquility. If you want a place where your kid's will have constant entertainment this is your place. Water park, slides, indoor and outdoor swimming, playgrounds, jumping pads, hay rides, putt putt. The list goes on and on. There is also beautiful river frontage if you can ever convince your kids to walk down away from the action.

❌What we didn't love: Be prepared for your kids to cry at least 3 times a day as they shut down the pool and waterpark, make everyone pack all of their items, and leave while they close down for an hour. You lose your spot, your kids cry. It's the pits. Hopefully this is just a covid protocol but this part was no fun.

👍Quick Tip: Spend the extra money. Get a river front spot. Some spots away from the river are close to the highway and less than ideal with a lot of road noise. And rent the golf cart WAY in advance. You'll wish you had one once you get there and by then they will be sold out and you'll be filled with regret.

✅Hookups Available: Varies by Site, full hookups available at Lakeview and Big Pines Camping Area: Electric (30 amp), Water, Sewage

❤️What we love: I love being able to be near the water which is why Lakeview is my top choice. Everything is always well kept and you are an easy hop to the hiking and biking trails. On-site water rentals and a really good kids playground is tough to beat! Being in the piney woods gives you much needed shade in the Texas heat.

❌What we didn't love: Raccoons! They can be cute and entertaining to watch but they can also steal your steak. Keep your food packed up and inside your RV or they will definitely take your lunch.

👍Quick Tip: Book early! The full hookup sites are reserved way in advance. Plan your trip and get your spot reserved as early as you possibly can.
