SHADY HILL • MIDWEST THROWBACK SPRINT CARS • 5/30/26 RESULTS
A-Main: 4th → 4th
Sometimes you just never know what phone call you’re going to receive.
Got the opportunity to jump into the Dick Oberlander-owned car this past Saturday and figured, why not?
This thing is a 1987 Challenger chassis powered by a 4.3L V6 with a 2-barrel Holley carb off a mid-’90s S-10 or something like that.
We ended up Quick Time in qualifying. All the 410s were just smoking the tires, while this little V6 was hooked up and digging.
Started on the pole in the heat race but fell back to fourth with ignition issues. Thought we had it fixed for the feature, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.
Started fourth in the feature and finished fourth with the distributor on its last leg. It wasn’t the result we wanted, but it was a fun weekend getting to play fill-in driver for a night and wheel something completely different than what I’m used to.
As always, I’m still looking for opportunities to drive just about anything on dirt. If you’ve got a seat that needs filled, don’t hesitate to reach out.
