It's been a little while since I posted about my 57. She now has a cammed, maggie blown Pontiac G8 GT motor (LS2 with LS3 heads) , TR6060 6 speed manual transmission, 4 link rear conversion, Ford 9" rear, wildwood disc brakes, hydraboost brake cylinder, swaybars and coilovers all around. She puts out about 600 whp on 12 PSI boost and is a riot to drive around. E85 is in the works and should take it to the next level.

In the process of taming this beast. She came in with a severe drivability issues. MAF and VE tables all over the place ...

In the process of taming this beast. She came in with a severe drivability issues. MAF and VE tables all over the place to make a decent WOT dyno pull. No alcohol sensor and stoich was manually set to 9.1:1 in this pump E85 car (actual stoich in the tank was 10.34:1. Poster child of how "speed shops" hack tables to make peak power and send them on their way. The car is in excellent mechanical shape and real data calibration are going great!

Important E85 PSA:

These days a lot of folks are converting to E85, which is great. But there is something everyone needs to know about E85.

You HAVE to let your engine (technically the exhaust system) get up to temp before shutting it off.

If your headers are not sizzling when you spit on them (or put drops if water on them, you know what I mean) they are not hot enough to keep moisture out. Your turbo, header tubes etc will rust from the inside like you would not believe.

Your typical no-no is starting the car cold in the garage to move it outside, then shut it off. Let it heat up the exhaust bits and you will have a happy healthy motor for years to go.

First time out with the blower. Pretty mild and safe tune but she did great!
