The time has come to get to work on project that is very special to us. We acquired this 2006 Ford GT a few years ago and have spent a lot of hours since deciding precisely what to do with it. This particular car has significant history with Heffner Performance and will be properly reinvented.

We’ve got a fresh stage 5 transmission going into this beautiful Performante for this morning. This car was equipped with our stage 2 twin turbo system some time ago. After 15,000 miles of enjoyment, the stock transmission gear set finally said goodbye. Fortunately we stock all of the needed parts to build the DL800 transmissions and will have it back on the road quickly.

When we finished this car up a couple of months back our customer asked what we think it will run. We told him that it would likely run high 7’s early on and would eventually get down into the 7.6X range. Here we are on the third outing with a 7.60. To make it even better, the car was driven to and from the track. This type of testing is a critical part of our DL800 transmission program and helps the success of the program continue to grow. Thanks to the guys over at Precision Turbo for providing us with a pair of turbos that not only makes all of the power we need but also spools up in a fraction of a second.

There is so much more to a successful transmission program than simply installing the right parts. The right parts incorrectly installed or setup is a proven way to waste tens of thousands of dollars. Not only can your new parts fail prematurely but they can cause abrasive metallic debris to circulate through your transmission and cause other components to wear rapidly and fail prematurely. Verifying a proper contact pattern between gears is just one of the necessary measures that we take to ensure the success of our transmissions. Do you know which of these you want and which you don’t want? It’s OK. We do.

We hear a lot of people saying that you don’t need to upgrade your clutch when you want to make beyond 1,000 horsepower. You can make the power without the clutch but you may not do it for long. We caught this catastrophic failure just in time to save this customer the expense of replacing his entire transmission. Don’t learn the hard way.
