This morning, Sam walked into a police station (unknown location in the US) and left a message saying he is safe and well but does not want contact with his family.

As his family, we thank ALL of you for your love, prayers, and concern for Sam. We have felt those prayers and have been so grateful for how quickly and effectively you came to our aid.

We will always love Sam.

As a family, we will respect his wishes.

UPDATE - There is reason to believe that Sam may be traveling to the Huntsville, Rucker or Hollywood Alabama area. 2-15-2024, 9:00 pm, WATE Search and Recovery Investigators are deploying to the location to assist the family in searching for Sam.

Sam Walkenhorst walked away from his home in the area of Doe Creek Drive, Lithia, Florida on February 15, 2024, at 8:30 am. He was wearing a Dungeons and Dragons outfit and carrying a dark roller case and a backpack. Sam is on the autism spectrum. He might be traveling to an unknown location via bus, train, or airplane and has ties to the Windermere, Orlando area. He is not listed as a missing person as it lacks the 24 hr threshold. However, family states this is a dire situation, as they believe he may have been influenced or possibly exploited. If you see him, please call or text. It's been four days since this young man was found wandering the streets alone. Please share this across the nation in an attempt to find someone, somewhere, that recognizes this child.

The Midland Police Department needs help locating this young man’s family. He is not able to communicate what his name is or where he lives. He was found unattended near Ward Street and Shandon Avenue. He is approximately 13-17 years old. Any tips can be emailed to [email protected] or call (432)214-8765
