OPTion5 Enthusiasts. Drivers. Community. The group often hung out, built cars, studied God’s Word, and went on drives (bounces).

Our club was founded in 2005 by a group of friends: a set of twins, a short Italian, a boost-happy construction worker, and an athletic native of Arizona; while driving home to Portland from Hot Import Nights in Seattle. Not part of the street racing or drifting scene, and unimpressed by tacky graphics and battle version bodykits of the day, they found themselves separate from the typical import s

cene. This group of friends who had grown close over the years through not only their love of cars, but more through their love of Jesus Christ, decided it was time to make the concept of their car club a reality; OPTion5. Since its inception OPTion5 has grown along with its members. Many diverse cars and drivers regularly attend our events, while members of the OPTion5 family are actively engaged in a variety of motorsports activities including drag racing, club cruises, autocross events, track days and the ChumpCar World Series. Often times many OPTion5 cars will be seen together at a car show, hardparking meet, or just outside of one of our homes or garages, with the members and often their families engaging in the same activities that originally brought the group together.

By now we have all heard the news of Paul Walker’s untimely death over Thanksgiving weekend. Regardless of the controversy of street racing, lack of realism, or one’s opinion on large spoilers and flashy graphics, the F&F movies ignited the petrol-fueled dreams of a generation of young gear-heads and brought import racing to the mainstream.

Walker’s death comes as a shocking reminder of our own mortality, and the inherently risky nature of this race we call life. I am grateful that I have a gracious Heavenly Father who will welcome me into heaven when my time comes. Not because I’m a good guy, I’m not, but because His Son, Jesus, gave his life for mine.

Are you prepared if your time comes sooner than expected?
