Hi, Everyone!

Remember the new NO texting and driving law went into effect on the 1st of July.

Please don't text and drive! Too many people have been injured or killed because of texting and driving. You don't want to be the one responsible for someone being hurt or killed because of it.

I know you all want to be safe, low risk, defensive drivers. You know the importance of staying focused on the driving task.

Too many today try to multitask while driving. They feel that they can drive and text at the same time. This really is a deadly combination.

So, protect yourself and others by being a safe, low risk, defensive driver. Don't text and drive. Nothing is that important and the life you save just maybe your own!

Good Evening! I just want to make sure what wherever you go for your driving lessons that they are teaching you these important safety tips and also explain what the road test entails.

1. Do you know what the I.P.D.E System is? If you took a 30 hour class you should.

2. Do you know what the Smith System is? Also, if you took the 30 hour class you should.

(Both of those systems can actually save your life and help you be a more defensive driver.)

3. Have you been taught how to parallel park? (You need this for the road test and you should be taught how to do this without knocking any cones down.)

4. Have you been taught how to back into the space without knocking down any cones- which in real life would be like hitting a car? (You need to do this on the road test and in real life.)

5. How many seconds must you stop at a stop sign?

6. How should you always treat a right turn on red if it is legal to do so?

7. Can you make a smooth lane change without losing speed, cutting someone off and using your mirrors and looking over your shoulder?

8. Where must the front wheels of your tires be when you stop at a traffic light?

9. Can you make a legal left turn on red and if so where?

10. When you make a left turn, what lane do you turn into?

These are just some of the things that you need to know - not just for the road test but for you to be a safe, low risk and defensive driver.

If your driving instructor is not showing you all these things, then ask them to show you. You are paying to learn how to drive and you should be taught all of these things.

So, those are my tips for tonight.

Happy Thursday! Are you nervous about your road test? Have you learned how to parallel park, back up into a parking space and be able to back up straight for 100 feet? If you don't know how to do this, then you need to learn because you will be tested on these things. If you are taking driving lessons, make sure to ask your instructor how to approach these and get in without hitting any cones!

If you don't have a driving instructor and are looking for one then I am always ready to help. I have been instructing for more than 20 years. I have developed ways to help you master these tasks.

Hi, Just wanted to remind everyone that I am still teaching driver's education but now for Taggart's Driving School. Recently I've had many parents call because we had their older son or daughter in our previous class.

It's very rewarding to know that they are doing fine and want the same quality lessons for their next son or daughter. You can still have me as an in car instructor.
