Open class. Any sled that doesn’t fit the above classes can run open. Open class sleds must use a vintage engine from a leaf spring chassis 1985 or older. Relic sleds: Any sled 1974 model year or older with a non-jackshaft chassis, original suspension, and original secondary clutch can move down one class from where it would normally run based on the classes above. Example: a 440cc fan cooled machine that is 1974 or older, non jackshaft, original suspension, and original secondary clutch can run in Class 1 instead of Class 2. Sleds fitting the Class 1 description but are 1974 or older non-jackshaft will run in Class 0. All relic sleds must meet the class rules they would normally run in, not the class they’re moving down to. Factory race sleds = Sno-Twisters, Thunderjets, Zs, Starfires, Blizzards, etc. Rules are subject to change. In extreme cases a sled may be re-classed for a better fit overall – race director’s discretion. Any questions, please ask, don’t assume. Our number one goal is keep the racing fair and fun for everybody!

Thanks to everyone that came to Hilltop today! The weather was chilly, but good for sled racing. My buddy Jeff took a bunch of pictures today, I hope we can get those posted up soon. Mark Elwell has posted some in the visitors comments already. We'll post up the race results ASAP also. Another fun day of barnyard racing! See you at the next one on Dec. 17!

We've been getting some inquiries about racing with us, so I thought maybe we should give some background info about us. First, this is barnyard racing. I mean that in the nicest possible way, but still, that's what it is. We race for the fun of it. There's no clay starting line, no groomed track, no timers, and no electronic devices at the finish line to determine the winner. A guy flips the light on at the start and another guy stands at the finish line to decide who wins. That's all there is to it. If you decide to race with us, you will most likely be called on at some point during the day to take a turn working either the starting line or the finish line. We expect everyone to take a turn at it, whether it's your first time here or you're one of the regulars. We usually run through a complete round of classes, stand around and BS while the sleds cool down, then do another round. We deliberately keep it laid back and slow paced because we are first and foremost vintage sledheads that have a lot of FUN racing our old junk! Anyone and everyone is welcome to come and race with us, but if you come with idea that you're going to a high dollar, professionally run racing organization you are going to be severely disappointed. We ain't even close to that, and never will be! On the other hand, if you would like to spend a Saturday with some guys and gals that like talking about and working on old sleds - with some racing in between - then you'll have no problem fitting in. Again, everyone is welcome, but we ask that you come with the proper attitude for what we do here. Thanks for reading and understanding, please respect what we do, and we'll see you at the next race!

Update - Class 3a has been changed to include fan cooled engines:

"Class 3:
a. Free air or fan cooled twin cylinder engines over 341 cc with twin carbs and original, unaltered OEM exhaust. As cast ports."

This makes a place for any fan cooled sleds originally built with twin carbs or a single carb fan cooled sled sled can be converted to dual carbs as long as it still has the original unaltered OEM exhaust.

We're a little over a week away, does everybody have their vintage iron (and aluminum) ready to rock-n-roll? Cooler weather means quicker times, and faster is always better! It's sounding like it's going to be a pretty good turnout. See you all on Nov. 12! Please share this message to help get the word out!

Just a reminder that November 12th is the next sled drag. Hope to see everyone there!
