Is it only me or does anyone else get beat down when it comes to builds? I’m not geared to do a job “good enough”. I hold myself to a high standard because I figure if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing to the best of my ability. There is nothing worse than feeling like someone doesn’t appreciate your effort. I think I’m to the point in my life that if you don’t want to pay me for the best I can do, then take your project on down to road. If you’re looking for a deal, take your project on down the road. When you go to work you expect to be paid for every hour you’re there, well so do I. We are $105 an hour and that adds up fast! The cost of builds has gone up so much in this industry and it’s not just labor. Materials have gone up too. The days of a budget restoration or budget paint job are way gone. We charge hourly because you never know what you’re getting into with these builds. Builds change direction all the time. There is always surprises along the way too. Remember, we are custom building these vehicles to the customers vision and using a lot of parts that aren’t meant to be on the vehicle. There is not step by step instruction booklet for this. We are custom building a one off car every time. There are some things that we do over and over again but no 2 vehicles are the same. Sorry for the rant, but this is a passion of mine. I wake up in the morning excited to come to work and before someone takes that from me, they will be asked to pick up their vehicle and take home. Life is short, don’t take it for granted. Do what you love and enjoy the day. RANT OVER!
