Day 2, we passed the technical inspection successfully. In the afternoon, we met some problems with our encoder and wiring, but by 8 pm the electrical specialists solved that problem and the car is in good condition now. Hope we can achieve a good result at tomorrow run.

At last, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to our dearest ambassador, Randy Galang. He consistently went out of his way in everything he did to make our experience in SEMA 2016 a truly fruitful and memorable one, not to mention the help he rendered with logistics before the competition and our special car cookies. None of our achievements would have been possible without his help. Thank you!

This was defnitely one of the biggest wins NTU have had in its history of Shell Eco-marathon! Both teams bagged 6 awards from the on-track and off-track categories, making NTU one of the biggest winners of SEMA 2016!
Nanyang Venture 9 won the bronze for on-track awards with it's score of 425km/kWh, behind China with 437km/kWh and Thailand with 507km/kWh. As for off-track, it retained it's Technical Innovation award for the third time, staying true to its claim of constantly reinventing itself.
Last but not the least, congratulations to all 118 teams who participated in SEMA 2016! You were all winners too! :D

Day 5 is all about pushing the car to its absolute limits. The team was aware that the car is already peaking in its performance, hence discussions were held to see if there's any suggestions to gain those additional kilometers. At this point of time, we were trailing closely behind team China in second place. Our fourth attempt eventually gave us our best record of 425km/kWh, close to double that of SEMA 2015!
On the fifth and final attempt, it was unfortunate our timing belt broke on the third lap, bringing the car to a quiet stop, clocking in an invalid run. But overall, the team was already satisfied with the car and driver's performance, far exceeding our expectations.

This morning, the team's pre-race checklist revealed a critical steering component which have suffered a fracture due to metal fatigue. Without this rod, the car would not steer. The team remained calm and thought of an ingenious method to improvise and repair the broken part. Within an hour to two, the car was up and running again. Kudos to them!
At the same time, our driver, Venus planned out her racing strategy as she was more familiar with the track now. With this, she and the car surprised us once more by pushing the score up another 100km to 415km/kWh, surpassing our goal of 400km/kWh! This gave us the standing of 3rd position, and at the same time giving China some pressure too ;)

Clearing inspection on day 2 means we were eligible for the Flag Off event on Day 3! Beautiful sights and sounds, with the percussion group playing and the VIPs entering. A great opportunity to fly our Singapore flag high!
The team then geared up for the first official competition attempt in the afternoon. Not much was expected with the results as it was meant to be a familiarisation run for the driver. But who knows, even with Venus pushing the car flat out, we broke out previous record with a score of 320km/kWh, an improvement of a 100km/kWh! This got the team's spirit in high gear for the next attempt as there was definitely more room for improvement!

Day 2 is Technical Inspection (TI) day! With the car well prepared the day before, NV9 flew through the stations smoothly, except for a few minor hickups, eg. the horn was short of 3dB. All we had to do was to drill a few holes to let the soundwaves out. A few other highlights of the day were the photo taking session with all the cars lined up and the live interviews with the National Geographic film crew. All in all, we passed TI in late afternoon, but could not squeeze in for the test run in time.

Shell eco-marathon is back for the last time in Manila! Pretty much everything from the time we took our flight out of SG till the point of packing up and closing off our paddocks have been smooth and uneventful. Really appreciate the adjustments to the schedule of the event; placing priority in pushing teams to clear technical inspection (TI) ASAP. We hope to pass TI first thing tomorrow morning! Filming with the National Geographic film crew have also been an exhilirating experience!
