It’s official!

The standards for motorcycle helmets have been updated to align with international benchmarks. From 1 November 2025, helmets that meet the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN ECE) R22.06 standard can be used and sold in Singapore without requiring separate local approval. Helmets certified under the earlier SS9:2014 standard will continue to be valid, but motorcyclists are encouraged to choose the latest standards for better protection.

Wearing a proper helmet is one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of serious head injuries in a crash. Certified helmets are designed to absorb impact and save lives.

Motorcyclists are reminded to gear up with approved helmets every ride and ride safe.
