📌 Fuel Injection System Explained: Key Parts & Their Functions:
The fuel injection system is crucial for delivering the right amount of fuel to the engine for efficient combustion. Below are key components:
1. Fuel Injector –
The fuel injector is an electronically controlled nozzle that sprays a fine mist of fuel into the engine's intake manifold or directly into the combustion chamber. It ensures precise fuel delivery based on engine load and speed.
2. Cold Start Injector –
This is a special injector designed to provide extra fuel during cold starts. It enriches the air-fuel mixture when the engine is cold, ensuring smooth starting and idle stability.
3. Fuel Pump –
The fuel pump draws fuel from the tank and delivers it to the injectors at high pressure. In modern fuel-injected engines, an electric pump is commonly used, ensuring a consistent fuel supply under all conditions.
4. Fuel Filter –
The fuel filter removes dirt, rust, and other contaminants from the fuel before it reaches the injectors. Clean fuel prevents clogging and ensures efficient combustion.
5. Fuel Accumulator –
Found in some fuel injection systems, the fuel accumulator maintains pressure in the fuel lines, reducing fuel v***r formation and ensuring immediate fuel delivery when the engine is restarted.
6. Fuel Distributor –
In mechanical fuel injection systems, the fuel distributor regulates and distributes fuel to the individual injectors. It ensures equal fuel supply to all cylinders.
7. Inlet Track –
The inlet track is the passage through which the air-fuel mixture flows from the throttle body or injectors into the intake manifold. It plays a role in airflow dynamics, affecting engine efficiency and performance.
8. Inlet Manifold –
The inlet manifold distributes the air or air-fuel mixture evenly to all engine cylinders. It ensures proper mixing and combustion for smooth engine operation.
