MOST volcanic eruptions occur in the oceans as the current data reveal.

About 70 per cent of the earth’s surface is covered by ocean, and beneath that water lies a network of volcanoes hidden from view.

Volcanoes are common in areas of tectonic activity, or places where the earth’s crust shifts and moves. Scientists refer to these places as subduction zones and spreading centers, where magma from deep within comes up to the surface.

42,000 NID cards printed, 300,000 targeted

Newly appointed Acting Registrar for the Civil and Identity Registry (CIR), Mr. Leslie Simon, says 42, 000 National Identity (NID) cards have been printed in the past month as part of efforts to strengthen the program nationwide.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have already given Alex Johnston permission to speak with the PNG Chiefs before he enters the final year of his deal with the club 👀

Johnston is of Torres Strait Islander and PNG descent, and isn’t ruling out a move to the NRL’s newest club.

"Put me on the spot," he said on Channel Nine's 100% Footy recently. "I am signed for this year and next year for Souths. After that, if I still have miles to go in the legs, I will definitely be talking to the Chiefs. I think it would be pretty cool to be one of the first signed for a Papua New Guinean team...I think it is something I would look forward to."

He added, "They just love rugby league so much over there, the Chiefs, every week they'll get massive support," Johnston said. "It's something I probably want to be a part of. Obviously, I'd love to stay at Souths. But the footy over there, I think everyone needs to experience it. I fall in love with the game of footy going over there."
