Another Keen As day in the books.

Shaun kicked things off with a tractor puncture this morning, then headed back to the workshop to help fix one of Rach’s friend’s cars.

All was going well… until Shaun made the bold choice to leave Rach in charge of ordering the parts.

Turns out she can handle tyres, admin, quotes, Hoist chats, socials and general chaos, but car parts? Apparently not her finest hour.

So that one is back on the list for tomorrow.

Rach did get to talk about Hoist software though, which puts her firmly in her happy place. We also got a rotation done, quotes sorted, admin nailed, and kept the wheels turning.

A bit of everything today, as usual.

Why give Keen As Tyres a go?

Because there are plenty of places you can buy tyres, but we’re not here to just chuck tyres at you and send you on your way.

It’s been all go at Keen As this week.

Big tractor tyre repairs, sets of car tyres, truck punctures, fleet checks, tractor punctures, car punctures, new customers, quotes, orders, phone calls, messages and the usual “what day is it again?” business-owner energy.

Exactly how we like it.

But while we’ve been out and about, one thing has stood out.

Winter is coming in hot… or cold, actually. And some tyres are not looking overly prepared.

Especially the work utes being sent up wet, icy South Canterbury hills like they’ve got mountain goat DNA and a can-do attitude.

Spoiler: enthusiasm does not count as traction.

This Hilux got the glow up it deserved today!

The highway terrain tyres it came in on just weren’t going to cut it up the Hakataramea Valley through winter, so today we fitted a set of Patriot Rugged Terrain tyres.

They’re a great option for anyone wanting something between an all terrain and a mud terrain. Still practical for everyday use, but with a bit more bite when the road, track or paddock gets a bit less friendly.

A solid all-purpose option for a Hilux that’s expected to actually do Hilux things.

Well, Sunday clearly didn’t get the memo about being a day of rest.

We started the day like normal humans and headed to a family birthday. Then, right on cue, the phone rang and Shaun was off on a call-out.

Not long after, Shaun called Rach and suddenly the rescuer needed rescuing. Front tyre blowout on the fleet truck on his way home. Classic.

He made it back to the workshop safely, Rach arrived for moral support, and the fleet truck now has 2 flash new Hankook AH35s on the front. Nothing like an unplanned Sunday upgrade.

Then on the way home, Rach spotted someone driving dangerously. She almost carried on past because, you know, kids’ bedtime waits for no one, but decided to stay behind him and call *555.

She followed him through to Temuka while he nearly caused multiple accidents, and police caught up with him shortly after.

Turns out he was heavily intoxicated.

So Shaun rescued someone, Rach helped get a drunk driver off the road, and the fleet truck got new front tyres.

All in a day’s work around here.

Road safety isn’t just what we do at the workshop. It’s what we care about every time we’re out on the road.

Thursday at Keen As had the range.

Moped needing air, tractor tyre with a massive hole, 2 new tyres on an ambulance, and Daisy tucked up in Shaun’s office feeling sorry for herself after her immunisations, Bluey doing the heavy lifting.

Some days are smooth, some days are chaos, and some days the job list and real life list crash into each other.

Tyres sorted. Child nested. Bluey deployed.

Keen As always.

Thursday. The day that had a bit of everything.

A moped with not nearly enough air, a tractor tyre with a hole big enough to make Shaun’s eye twitch, 2 new tyres on an ambulance, and one small child feeling very sorry for herself after her 4 year old immunisations, tucked up in a nest in Shaun’s office watching Bluey.

Just your average Keen As day really.

From little tyres to big tyres, emergency vehicles to farm gear, planned jobs to “well that escalated quickly” moments, we do our best to keep things rolling while juggling real life in the background too.

Some days are smooth, some days are pure chaos, and some days the job list, the real life list, and the “what on earth now?” list all collide.

But we made it through. Tyres sorted, child nested, Bluey deployed. Keen As always.
