FAREWELL TO A TRUE JAGUAR GENTLEMAN - RAY LARSEN...It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Ray Larsen this morning at the age of 89. Ray was a personal friend of mine for many years, a mentor, and a man whose knowledge and passion for Jaguar motorcars were truly extraordinary.
Affectionately known as “Mr Jaguar” in New Zealand, Ray contributed more to the Jaguar marque than perhaps most people will ever realise. Much of what he did went unrecognised, yet he never sought recognition. His dedication, generosity with his knowledge, and above all, his humility were qualities I greatly admired and something we could all aspire to.
From his early career in Invercargill, through Queenstown, and eventually Canterbury, Ray left a lasting impression on the Jaguar fraternity and on the many people fortunate enough to have known him.
New Zealand has lost a remarkable Jaguar enthusiast, and we have lost a dear friend and mentor. His knowledge, friendship and quiet contribution to the marque will not be forgotten.
Our heartfelt condolences go to Ray's family and loved ones at this difficult time.
Rest in peace, Ray. Thank you for the friendship, the wisdom and everything you gave to the Jaguar world.
