Toyota NZ has announced a recall affecting 176 Camry vehicles built between June 2024 and November 2025 due to a potential issue with the driver instrument display. In some cases, the screen may fail to show important information such as speed, warning lights, and indicators. Toyota will reprogram the display software free of charge, and affected owners will be contacted directly. (CarExpert NZ)

🚗💸 Big changes coming to NZ roads? Say goodbye to fuel excise tax!

The Government is planning to phase out the petrol tax and move ALL 3.5 million light vehicles to a distance-based charging system (RUC).

What does this mean for you?
✅ Petrol prices at the pump could drop (no more 77c/L tax!).
❌ But you’ll pay based on kilometres driven, not fuel consumed.

️ The goal? Fairness. Currently, efficient cars pay less tax per km than big SUVs, even though they wear out the roads just as much.

The new digital system is expected to roll out in 2027. Whether you drive electric, diesel, or petrol, everyone will soon pay by the kilometre.
