The Real Cost of a Bag of Cement? 🏗️🇳🇬
Is it true that the government takes more than half the price of every bag? The answer is largely YES.
According to Aliko Dangote, the government acts as a "silent partner" in the industry. Here is the breakdown:
Dangote stated that for every N1 generated, 52 kobo goes directly to the Federal Government through taxes (VAT, Corporate Tax, Education Tax, etc.).
The Math: On a bag of cement costing N12,000, that’s roughly N6,240 going to the government’s coffers.

This heavy tax burden is one of the biggest reasons why cement prices remain high locally compared to exported prices.
When you buy a bag of cement, you aren't just paying for the powder—you're paying for the "partnership" with the state.
