For years, Accord 2005 and Camry 2005 have entered Nigerian families like unexpected blessings.

A young man buys one as his first car.
A family uses one for business.
Someone travels from Lagos to Enugu, Abuja, Kano or Port Harcourt with it.
Another person buys one after his previous car nearly finished his savings.

And somehow, these old warriors keep moving. 😂🔥

Mechanic says: “This car is old.”

The owner says: “Old ke? Na you go tire before this car!” 😂😂

You may not like their age.
You may complain about their fuel consumption.
You may say newer cars are more beautiful.

But one thing is difficult to deny:

🚨 “I WAS TOLD TO BUY A LEXUS RX300… BUT I CHOSE COROLLA. PEOPLE CALLED ME CRAZY.”

Let me say something that will make some Lexus owners angry today. 😂

If you give me money to buy a used Lexus RX300 and a clean Toyota Corolla, I may shock you—I will take the Corolla.

Not because RX300 is a bad car.

Far from it.

The Lexus RX300 is comfortable, classy, powerful and carries that “big man has arrived” presence. You enter it and immediately feel like you have upgraded your life. 😂

But my brother, Nigeria is not America.

Here, buying a car is not just about how beautiful the car looks when you park it.

You must ask:

“When this thing develops problem, how much will my pocket cry?”

That is where Corolla starts making sense.

Corolla is not trying to impress anybody.

It is simply doing its job.

Fuel? Relatively manageable.

Maintenance? Generally easier.

Parts? Easier to find.

Mechanic? Almost every serious Toyota mechanic knows his way around Corolla.

And when you want to sell it, you don't need to start preaching before someone will buy it.

But RX300?

Once you buy an old one, you have entered another level of responsibility.

You are dealing with an older luxury SUV. More weight, more components, more electronics, more expensive suspension and generally higher running costs.

And that is the part some Nigerian buyers don't calculate.

They see:

“Lexus RX300 — ₦X million.”

They don't see:

“How much will I spend keeping this ₦X million car happy?” 😭

Because there is a difference between buying a car and being able to maintain the car you bought.

I would rather drive my Corolla every morning knowing that my pocket is breathing than park a Lexus in front of my house and start praying that the dashboard warning light doesn't come on.

😂😂😂

But let me be fair:

If your budget can comfortably maintain an RX300, buy the Lexus and enjoy the comfort.

If you want something more economical and straightforward to own, Corolla makes a lot of sense.

So let me throw the controversial question to you:

🔥 If you have ₦8 million today, would you rather buy an older Lexus RX300 or a cleaner Toyota Corolla?

Don't tell me which one looks better.

Tell me which one you can maintain without borrowing money from your brother. 😂

🚨 TEACHERS, PLEASE DON’T LET CAR OWNERSHIP TURN INTO ANOTHER FINANCIAL BURDEN! 😭🚗

I AM A TEACHER AND I WANT TO BUY MY FIRST CAR.

Yes, I said TEACHER. 👨‍🏫👩‍🏫

Before somebody will come and say, “Teacher and car? From where?” 😂

Things have changed.

Many teachers today are no longer depending on salary alone. We have side hustles, businesses, tutoring, farming, online work and other legitimate sources of income.

So I have finally decided that it is time to buy my first car.

But now I am confused between:

🔥 Honda Civic 2008

and

🔥 Honda Accord 2007

And this is where I need Nigerian car people to talk to me honestly.

If you were advising a teacher buying his/her FIRST car, which one would you choose?

Personally, I'm leaning towards the Civic because I'm thinking about fuel consumption, easier maintenance and not putting too much pressure on my income.

But somebody told me:

“Forget Civic. If you can afford Accord, buy Accord. You will enjoy the car and stop looking at Civic as a student car.”

Another person said:

“Your first car should teach you financial discipline, not financial suffering. Buy Civic.”

And honestly, that statement got me thinking. 🤔

Because in Nigeria, buying the car is sometimes the easiest part.

Maintaining it is where the real battle starts. 😭

You can buy a beautiful Accord, park it in front of your house and everybody will shout:

“Teacher don hammer!” 😂🔥

But when suspension, AC, tyres, fuel, servicing and other repairs start demanding money, nobody will come and help you pay the mechanic.

That is why I don't want to buy a car simply because it looks bigger or more luxurious.

I want something I can comfortably maintain.

I don't want to earn ₦300k from salary and side hustle, then use ₦250k every month chasing car problems.

What is the point of owning a beautiful car if the car is secretly owning you? 😭

So, my fellow Nigerians, especially teachers and people who have owned both cars:

HONDA CIVIC 2008 vs HONDA ACCORD 2007

Which one makes more sense as a FIRST CAR for a teacher?

Don't tell me which one looks better.

Don't tell me which one gets more attention.

Tell me which one will give me peace of mind without eating my income alive. 😂

Guys, I’m confused. I can only buy one car and I’m stuck between Toyota Venza and Lexus.

Both are nice, both are respected, but I want to be realistic.

Which one is cheaper to maintain in Nigeria? 🤔I’m talking about fairly used (not Tokunbo).

Buying the car is easy — maintaining it is the real issue. 😭

You can buy a Lexus for ₦10m+ and enjoy respect, but when serious repairs start, things can get painful. Meanwhile, Venza owners seem to manage maintenance more quietly.

Some people say:

“If you can afford Lexus, don’t worry about maintenance.” 😂

“Venza and Lexus are both Toyota, it’s just your pocket.”

So I want real owners to speak.
