Today, a **Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk6** came into our workshop with the **ABS, ESP, TPMS, Power Steering**, and several other warning lights all illuminated on the dashboard.

What we'd like to share today is that this wasn't the first time we had seen this car.

The owner had actually visited us earlier, and after carrying out a thorough diagnosis, we identified the root cause as a **faulty Brake Control Module (ABS Module)**. However, the owner and his friends felt it would be better to get a second opinion from another workshop—which is completely understandable. After all, it's always wise to compare different options before making a repair decision.

Unfortunately, after more than a week of troubleshooting, the previous workshop had already replaced the battery and all four wheel speed sensors, yet the main problem remained unresolved.

In the end... the car came back to us.

This is a good reminder that **accurate diagnosis is often more important than replacing parts**. Modern vehicles rely on complex electronic systems, and when one control module fails, it can trigger multiple warning lights and fault codes, making it easy to misdiagnose the problem.

The rather rare Naza Citra came to us with an ECU failure. The diagnostic scan showed fault code P0707 – Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Low Input, and the vehicle had already started experiencing intermittent automatic gear shifting problems.

Here's a simple explanation to help Ford owners better understand the issue and avoid unnecessary repairs.

On many **Ford models manufactured between 2009 and 2017**, failures of the **Brake Control Module (BCM / ABS Module)** are a well-known issue within the automotive repair industry. When the ABS warning light comes on, many owners are advised to replace the **wheel speed sensor**, **ABS sensor**, or even the **ABS pump**. However, in many cases, the actual fault lies within the **Brake Control Module** itself.

If your diagnostic scan shows **multiple wheel speed sensor fault codes at the same time**, it's important to consider the possibility that the Brake Control Module has failed, rather than assuming that several sensors have all failed simultaneously.

The most common causes include:

1. **Malaysia's hot climate** – Continuous exposure to high under-bonnet temperatures accelerates the ageing of the electronic components inside the module.

The TCU (Transmission Control Unit) failure rate is extremely high in many Mazda models produced between 2010 and 2013, including the Mazda 3, Mazda 6, and Mazda Premacy 5.

The main reason is the original factory design, where the TCU is mounted directly onto the transmission housing. Over time, constant exposure to high temperatures causes the internal electronic components and solder joints to deteriorate and fail. These failures commonly occur once the vehicle has accumulated 100,000 to 150,000 km or more.

When the TCU fails, owners will typically experience the following symptoms:

✅ Harsh Gear Engagement
A noticeable “thump” or jerking sensation when shifting into Reverse (R) or Drive (D).

✅ Transmission Stuck in Limp Mode
The vehicle may become locked in 3rd gear and unable to shift normally or reach higher gears.

✅ Multiple Warning Lights Illuminated
The AT (Automatic Transmission) warning light, ABS light, Traction Control light, and other warning indicators may appear simultaneously on the dashboard.

✅ Communication Failure
