TOYOTA VIOS GOLD CHAMPIONSHIP, ROUND 3: CHAMPIONSHIP LEADERS COME UNDER PRESSURE AS NEW CONTENDERS ARISE

Last weekend’s Round 3 at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit, with double championship points at stake, faced with a one-hour race, the use of the full length of the circuit and having all 37 cars from three classes being on the grid at the same time proved to be challenging factors that have essentially laid the foundation for an even more exciting Round 4 of the Toyota GAZOO Racing Malaysia Vios Gold Championship (formerly known as Vios Challenge).

A total of RM876,000 in total prize monies is at stake in Season 9 of the Toyota Vios Gold Championship. The 4th and final round of the Series – the longest running one-make production-based saloon car race series organized by a manufacturer in Malaysia - is schedule to take place in October.

With Round 3 of the Toyota Vios Gold Championship worth double the usual championship points, all guns are expected to come out blazing this weekend as the top seeded series contenders aim at extending their lead or keeping their title hopes alive.

The penultimate round of the championship will take on the full length of the 5.543 km Petronas Sepang International Circuit – as opposed to the ½ track format ran in the opening two rounds of the year – with drivers suiting up for a challenging full 1-hour race held on Saturday and Sunday. The race weekend is being held in conjunction with Round 3 of the Malaysian Touring Car Championship.

Season 9 of the Toyota Vios Gold Championship (formerly known as the Vios Challenge) was first introduced in 2017 and is putting up a total of RM876,000 in total prize monies over four individual rounds. Unihub Auto Sdn Bhd and DMW 1 Automobile have teamed up with Kegani Racing Academy (KRA) to become the first UMW Toyota Motor dealers to recruit a developmental driver outside of the existing ecosystem to compete in the Toyota GAZOO Racing Malaysia Vios Challenge.

The team - Unihub & DMW 1 Motorsport Team - has signed on lady driver Loke Yin Yi, two-time overall champion of the KRA SKILLDRVN One Make Race (OMR) Series, to compete in the Sporting Class for amateurs, joining a grid of 20 other drivers for Round 3 this weekend ((25-26 July) at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit.

eRacing GP Announces 12 Hours of Spa – A New Endurance Challenge for Sim Racing's Elite

Taking place on the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, the special race to be held on 18 July, will challenge competitors to complete 12 hours of uninterrupted racing.

The event is proudly supported by Royal Selangor, the world's leading name in fine pewter craftsmanship.

The race will feature teams competing across eRacing GP's in three classes – Hypercars (GTP), LMP2 and GT3 – ensuring exciting battles throughout the field as both professional and amateur competitors test themselves against one another over 12 demanding hours.

Teams have a choice of BMW M Hybrid V8, Cadillac V-Series.R GTP, Ferrari 499P and Porsche 963 GTP to drive in the Hypercars (GTP) class. In the LMP2 class, teams will race the Dallara P217. The GT3 category offers six competitive options: the BMW M4 GT3 EVO, Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, Ferrari 296 GT3, McLaren 720S GT3 EVO, Mercedes-AMG GT3 (2020) and Porsche 911 GT3 R (992), allowing teams to choose the machine that best suits their strategy and driving style.

The 12 Hours of Spa will kick off at 11.00am on 18 July and will be streamed live on eRacing GP’s social channels.

TRIALS & TRIBULATIONS FOR WING HIN MOTORSPORTS IN ROUND 2 OF THE TSS THE SUPER SERIES AND THAILAND SUPER SERIES

One race win, three podium finishes in four races and several misfortunes capped off an incredible yet challenging weekend of racing for Malaysia’s Wing Hin Motorsports at the 20th Anniversary of the Bangsaen Grand Prix which was also Round 2 of the TSS The Super Series and Thailand Super Series.

Taking to the grid as defending champion in the GT4 Class, and with four entries in the Super Touring Class, Wing Hin Motorsports continued to prove itself as a dominant force on the challenging 3.74km Bangsaen street circuit.

In Race 1 of the TSS The Super Series GT4 Class, the #39 Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 piloted by Hong Kong driver Ryan Wong and Malaysian touring car specialist Mitchell Cheah claimed 2nd on the podium after a strategic and text book one-hour race.

In Race 1 of the Thailand Super Series Super Touring Class, Nabil Azlan who started from 2nd on the grid got the hole shot to lead the race with three cars behind him in pursuit to make it a four-way battle up front. His lead opened up from 2.2 seconds to 4.1 seconds after 20 minutes of racing but all the hard work amounted to nothing when the safety car was deployed.

As his pursuers pitted when the safety car peeled off the track, Nabil chose to stay out on track for a single flying lap with the hope of building enough of a gap that would keep him in the lead even after his scheduled pitstop. Rejoining the race later after the mandatory pitstop, he climbed all the way back to the front from 8th and with just seven minutes of racing remaining, took 2nd spot as he crossed the chequered flag.

TSS The Super Series and the Thailand Super Series consists of five rounds with Round 3 visiting the Petronas Sepang International Circuit from 21-23 August.

VIPER NIZA RACING TEAM TAKES FIRST OVERALL PODIUM FINISH IN MICHELIN 24H SERIES AT THE 12 HOURS OF NURBURGRING

• 3RD overall in GT3 and 2nd in GT3-AM
• 320 laps completed and final lap showdown had spectators on the edge of their seats

Viper Niza Racing Team drove to its best race of the season and in two full seasons of the Michelin 24H Series finishing 3rd in GT3 to take its first overall podium finish at the 12H of Nurburgring on Sunday (5 July).

This strong result also consolidates Viper Niza Racing Team’s 3rd position in the overall GT3-AM Class standings with 116 points, 8 points adrift of Hofor Racing in 2nd position and 14 points to current leader GetSpeed Team JR286. The team is also 6th in the overall GT3 standings with 76 points.

The final race of the Series, the 24H of Barcelona, will be held from 18-20 September.

SAIC Motor Malaysia has unveiled the local specification of the new MG ZS, MG’s compact SUV, two variants — the LUX Turbo and LUX Hybrid+, with the turbo variant scheduled for a later introduction.

As the largest B-segment SUV in its class, measuring 4,430mm in length and 1,818mm in width, the MG ZS also provides 443 litres of boot space.

Malaysia’s Viper Niza Racing Team will dig deep to take on the challenges of a new track at this weekend’s (3-5 July) 12H of Nurburgring, as the penultimate round of the Michelin 24H Series makes its maiden visit to one of the world’s most infamous circuits.

With two rounds remaining in this year’s championship, the Viper Niza Racing Trio of Douglas Khoo, Dominic Ang and Melvin Moh will be gunning for a strong result to push them up the overall point standings or consolidate their current 3rd position.

The team currently sits 3rd in the overall GT3-AM Class standings with 80 points, trailing GetSpeed Team PCX Racing with 90 points and the current overall leader Hofor Racing at 96 points. Viper Niza Racing Team is also joint 6th overall in the GT3 Class standings.

Over 45 sports cars across multiple classes are registered to compete in the race, 14 of which will be in the ultra-competitive GT3 Class which includes the #65 Viper Niza Racing Team Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO.

The 12 Hours of Nurburgring will be held on the Grand Prix track which stretches 5.148km with 16 turns, as opposed to the entire 20.83km track often referred to as the "Nordschleife" (North Loop) - dubbed the "Green Hell" – with over 73 officially recognized corners.
