The Ford Everest has yet set a new benchmark in the Luxury SUV segment.
The new Platinum, with a 3.0L Turbodiesel mill is one to be praised. With 250hp and 600Nm of torque, power is available from 1,750rpm effortlessly reaching 100km/h in just 8.7s and still have more juice at high speeds.
Long drive is more enjoyable and safer with driver assist technologies such as Level 3 Adas with Adaptive Cruise Control + Lane Centering and Stop&Go Pilot, Active Lane Keeping System, Blind Spot Monitoring System, Adaptive Matrix LED headlamp and the Intelligent 4A which allows the 10speed Automatic Transmission with an Electro-Mechanical Transfer Case to send power to all 4 wheels at all time regardless of the terrain.
Stepping up a notch, it now comes with heated and ventilated seats for 4 passengers, a 12.4 inch touch screen SYNC4 and a 12inch instrument cluster which keeps you connected to all important apps while driving without having to take your hands off the steering wheel by using the Voice Assistant.
An array of convenience feature is also available in this flagship SUV such as E-Shifter, Keyless operation, electric operated front seats and third row seating, 360degree camera with proximity sensors and a reverse brake assist.
What separates this SUV from the rest is the offroading capabilities. Standing tall with a ground clearance of 230mm, it is available to wade water up to 800mm in depth, besides having a High and Low Range with locked centre diff and a e-locking rear differential lock cleverly tucked in the 6 Driving Modes available at the turn of a k**b.
Commanding the road and presence with its 21 inch allow wheels wrapped around 275/45R21, you just know how planted the ride is to the ground, maximising driving pleasure and passenger comfort. Speaking of passengers comfort, multiple power sources is available on the 2nd & 3rd row, cup and bottle holders, dedicated aircond vents and the ginormous Moonroof-Sunroof makes the Everest nothing short than spectacular.
