Three valleys. ๐Ÿ”๏ธ One viewpoint.
No other vehicles for the entire day.

This is what we mean by off the beaten path.

Three ways to do Mongolia with us. Fully organized self-drive with remote tour manager support. Guided self-drive. Fully chauffeured. The gear is identical across all three โ€” same Land Cruiser, same Hercules tent, same Webasto, same kit. The only thing that changes is who is driving. We mention this because the gear question and the guide question are often confused. Drive yourself, or donโ€™t. The fleet underneath you is the same.

The Kilometer That Made One Couple Extend Their Trip

Kilometer 317 of their planned route. A Swiss couple. Day 7.

They pulled over. Didnโ€™t get out. Just sat in the Land Cruiser with the engine off, looking at a valley neither of them had ever imagined.

Then they called us and asked if they could extend the trip by four days.

We rearranged flights, pushed the vehicle handover, re-routed them south into Gobi-Altai Province, and kept them going.

Their email after they flew home was three words: โ€œYou made us addicted.โ€

We took it as a compliment.

This tent is heated by a wood-burning stove. Inside, at -32ยฐC outside, it reads 19ยฐC. The sleeping benches are elevated and comfy.
There are two people sleeping in here right now and none of them are cold. Mongolia in winter and spring is not a discount summer trip.
It is its own country, and it requires its own gear.
If you have always wanted to see the steppe blue under a winter or spring sun โ€” but you assumed the cold made it impossible โ€” this is the answer.

The Lunch Spots We Marked on Your Map
These aren't restaurants. They're places.
Every self-drive route we hand you comes with marked lunch spots.

The beach between sand dunes and a lake. A ridge above the river valley with a clean flat rock. A willow grove near a spring that runs even in August. A high point on the Orkhon route where you can see 40km in three directions. A sheltered bend south of Kharakhorin where the wind drops to nothing at midday.
Daily spots across our Central & Northern Mongolia loop.
Each one scouted, GPS-pinned, and noted for wind direction, shade, water access, and view.

Why the new Land Cruiser 76, 78, 79 and Not the old cheap 100 or the 200?
People ask us why we run the new 70-Series and why they are worth paying more for?

Not the 200 (too soft for long gravel days).
Not the cheap old 100 (maintenance headache guarantee and no rear passenger comfort on 12-day trips).
Not the fancy LC300 (too much electronic complexity in a country where a repair might happen 400km from the nearest dealer).

The new LC 70 series with automatic transmission is the last great mechanical overland Land Cruiser. Diesel. Large tanks. Solid axles front and rear.
A vehicle a competent mechanic with basic tools can fix anywhere but never breaks.
It's not the newest trendy choice. It's the right choice. It has been for generations in Africa and Mongolia.

And we maintain ours to a standard most fleets reserve for rally cars.

We don't do extreme. We do remote, comfortable, and beautifully simple.
Nights that will stay in your memory.

The Moment You Stop Checking Your Phone
Day 1: you check your phone 40 times.
Day 3: you check it when you remember.
Day 6: you've forgotten which pocket it's in.

There's a stretch of road on the Northern Mongolia loop โ€” where the last cell tower fades at roughly the 22km mark.
Guests tell us this is when the trip actually begins.
The Land Cruiser has a satellite communicator.
You're never out of reach. But you're finally out of range โ€” and those are very different things.

Why We Give You the Keys

We could send a driver with you. A lot of operators insist on it.
We give you the keys instead.

Because the moment you're holding them โ€” when it's your Land Cruiser, your route, your decision on where to stop โ€” something changes in the trip.
You stop being a passenger in your own holiday.
Our job is to make sure the vehicle is flawless, the route is scouted, and the phone is answered.
Your job is to drive.
And if at any point you want a driver, we'll send one. No guest has ever asked.
