A free outdoor library in the middle of downtown Seoul — books and beanbags provided, no booking needed. 📍Cheonggyecheon, Gwanghwamun Station Exit 5.

The stream runs right through the city center, and on select evenings the banks fill up with people reading with their feet in the water. It's a few degrees cooler down there, and when the lights come on around sunset it's one of the prettiest spots in Seoul.

Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond — Gyeongju, South Korea

Constructed in 674 AD, this was the royal annex of the Silla Dynasty, used for state banquets and royal receptions for more than 250 years. Over 30,000 artifacts have been excavated from the pond, making it one of the richest archaeological sites in Korea.

The site was long known as Anapji, a name given centuries later. Today the original name has been restored.

Visitor tip: arrive about 30 minutes after sunset. The lighting and the remaining daylight balance perfectly, and the reflection on the water is at its clearest.

Bulguksa Temple in Gyeongju is one of Korea's most iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites — and walking through it really does feel like stepping back into the Silla Kingdom. Stone terraces, wooden halls, and pagodas that have stood for over 1,200 years. ⛩️🇰🇷
