Honda Motor is changing its India strategy by partnering with Tata Technologies to reduce vehicle production costs and speed up development. Under the collaboration, Honda plans to outsource parts of vehicle development and production activities in India, helping the company achieve savings of up to 20%.
The partnership comes as Honda faces financial pressure and looks to improve efficiency while focusing more on hybrid vehicles. Faster development and lower costs could help Honda compete more strongly in India’s growing SUV and electrified vehicle markets.
The first vehicle developed under the collaboration is expected to be a small SUV, which could launch in India around 2028. Honda is also expected to use the partnership to reduce development timelines and bring new models to the market faster. The move highlights Honda’s growing focus on cost reduction and hybrid technology in India.
