Godzilla’s Last Roar: The LAST Nissan GT-R R35

Nicknamed “Godzilla,” it became a pop culture icon. With blistering acceleration, advanced tech, and a reputation for punching above its weight, the GT-R earned a loyal global following.

After 18 years of dominating roads, racetracks, and screens, the final Nissan GT-R R35 has officially rolled off the production line in Tochigi, Japan.

Finished in a striking Midnight Purple T-Spec, this last unit marks the end of an era, not just for Nissan, but for pop culture as a whole.

Launched in 2007, its impact went far beyond the spec sheet. The R35 was a star in Fast & Furious, a staple in video games like Gran Turismo and Need for Speed, and a favorite among tuners.

Social media and car shows kept it front and center for nearly two decades, turning it into a symbol of “accessible supercar” performance. In fact, it is known in pop culture as “supercar k*ller.”

“This isn’t goodbye forever,” said Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa. “We hope to bring the GT-R name back in the future.”

While production has ended, the R35’s legacy is far from over.
