Hi, everyone. Let me introduce myself. My name’s John McKiernan and I’m the new co-ordinator for international relations (CIR) at Kanoya City Hall, which means I’m Steven’s successor. You can find me in the Regional Promotional Division. I’m from Ireland, born and raised in the capital city, Dublin, but I’ve been living in London recently where I've been studying East Asian art history at postgraduate level. I’ve lived in Japan before, from 2011 to 2014 in Yamagata Prefecture, where I worked as an ALT, but this is my first time in Kyūshū. I’m excited and looking forward to meeting you all.

May 8th, 2018 a memorandum was signed at the Sports Authority of Thailand in Bangkok between Kanoya City, NIFS University in Kanoya, Kagoshima Prefecture, and the Kingdom of Thailand Volleyball Association for Pre-2020 Tokyo Olympic training camps to be held in Kanoya City for the National Women’s Volleyball Team of Thailand. Kanoya City will support the team so that they achieve excellent results through their training.

On April 27th Kanoya City also designated the Kingdom of Thailand as a Host Town.

Let’s cheer on the Thailand Women’s Volleyball Team in their training and during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics!
