I rendered the 1955 Jaguar D-Type for my Le Mans winner series more than ten years ago, and its road-going version, the XK SS as a member of the Open Cat series one year later. My silhouettes shows the left side of the cars, but the D-Type showed the right side just flipped. I didn't reused it for the XK SS, so the two silhouettes were similar, but different. Now, I deep-dived to the literature, and started from scratch I rendered the short nose 1954 D-Type first without and with the vertical fin, which was added to the rear in Le Mans after the warm up laps to reduce the car's instability. And I rendered the long nose 1955 Le Mans 24 hours winner car with wrap-around windshields to. Finally, the new XK SS silhouette is based on the short nose D-Type, and this time their relation is emphasized enough. The D-SS history is already in my shop.
As the 24 Hours Race Cars SilhouetteHistory series now has two refreshed members, the D-Type and the Ferrari 250 LM (scroll just a little back), I will refresh the other cars, and replace the complete series too.
