Very few petrol-heads from Thiruvalla might remember this car.

I first saw the car when I was a 5 year old kid and my father told me it is a BUICK.

It belonged to a well known person from Thiruvalla who bought it brand new when he was working in Middle East. Imported it to Kerala in 1986/87 and got it registered under the Thiruvalla SRTO.

1982 Buick Electra Park Avenue with 5.0L V8 under the hood mated to an automatic transmission and shod with the factory optional stylized Aluminium wheels.

One among the very few that might have been imported to the country. The original owner sold it in the mid 90s and later I heard it went to Bangalore.

He sold the Buick and bought a brand new Tata Estate 1995 followed by an Ambassador 2000DSZ in 2000. I was lucky to get the Ambassador from the original owner's daughter in 2016.

The car earned the owner a stylish nickname "BUICK ACHAYAN". 😎

TRIVIA 🙂

Yamaha RX100 and the later Yamaha RX135 had the same tail light assemblies and the tail light lens shared the same part number
36L - H4521 - V000 (1L1290300)

But there was a difference. The RX100 came with a tail light lens that was darker in shade compared to the ones that came on the later RX135. Nowadays only the lighter shade tail light lens is available in the market.

However both shades of tail light lenses are still manufactured by Yamaha Indonesia and here below the part numbers for the same.

Darker shade : 3HB - H4521 - 00
Early RXK and RX Special /RXS

Lighter shade : 5T5 - H4521 - V0
RX King (3KA)
