Mahindra has launched the Thar Roxx ‘Star Edn’, at an introductory price of ₹16.85 lakh. It sits just below the AX7 L trim, and while it comes with a few exclusive details, it also misses out on a few key features:

➡️Piano black 19-inch wheels and grille
➡️New black leatherette upholstery
➡️New Citrine Yellow paint colour alongside Tango Red, Stealth Black and Everest White
➡️It comes with the option of a diesel engine mated to a manual or automatic gearbox, and a petrol engine mated to just an automatic gearbox
➡️It misses out on four wheel drive, an electronic parking brake and electrically operated front seats

Mahindra's official statement on the recent incident involving a BE6 reveals that the fire originated from a deflated right rear tyre and not any of the electrical components of the vehicle, including the battery.

The vehicle's on board safety systems worked as they should to protect the vehicle and occupants.

The BEV's battery and motor actually remain "fully intact and unaffected."

Sounds and sights from the 90s!🪩

There was a time when neighbours woke up to the clatter of a diesel engine. When exhausts were loud and motors were relatively unbridled from the reach of emissions norms. When gear shifters for the 4-speed manuals rocked sideways upon the engine roaring to life. Automatics? They had yet to become mainstream.

No power steering meant a short drive was equivalent to the visit to the gym – and while that meant driving could be a pain in traffic, the steering also offered uncorrupted feedback from the road. In those days, road trips didn’t mean a speedy cruise down an access controlled expressway. It was a simpler time, when cars moved along our then highways at a much more relaxed pace, and the journey was always more important than the destination – and this car we recently drove was a reminder of those simpler times.

The sequel to the original is due for release on Jan 23, the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

As we wait for to hit the screens, a sequel to the original movie by J P Dutta, we took the new on a journey to the original battle site at Longewala to meet its ancestors.

Back in 1971, along with the men of 23 Punjab, 20 Lancers and the BSF were two Mahindra CJ-3Bs armed with 106mm recoilless guns. Together the men and these machines held the might of Pakistani Sherman, Patton and T-59 tanks at bay for 4-5 hours, giving enough time for the Indian Air Force's Hawker Hunters to come into play and wreak havoc on the enemy.

Mahindra’s 7-seater EV headlines the latest issue of Engage!

This issue of Engage magazine saw us driving the XEV 9S – an electric, 7-seater SUV that aims to bridge the gap between Mahindra’s futuristic BEVs and its more conventional ICE SUVs. We also had fun with the BE 6 Formula E Edition at a karting track, took a closer look at Mahindra Racing’s Formula E car, spent a weekend in Goa at the Thar Fest and spoke to Dr Paul Henry, whose Thar shares garage space with a supercar.

Abhijeet Makhijani from the Thar Bengaluru 4x4 Club recalled the club’s journey to Siachen, we got muddy at the MMC Offroad Escape, and wrapping up this issue is our ongoing series from Adil Jal Darukhanawala’s book Classic Mahindra, which walks us through the evolution of the brand’s pivotal machines.
