Visibility Watch: Delhi NCR is officially in pollution season. The CAQM invoked Stage 1 of the Graded Response Action Plan on Wednesday after the capital's air slipped into the poor category, AQI 244 by mid afternoon, and the forecast holds it there for the coming days. Report via ANI: https://aninews.in/news/national/general-news/grap-stage-1-imposed-in-delhi-ncr-as-air-quality-dips-to-poor-category20261021164027/

For riders the lesson is simple. Air thick enough to trigger GRAP is air that swallows contrast. A dark bike in grey haze fades into the background at dawn and dusk, exactly the hours most of us commute.

One practical takeaway: clean your tail lamp and indicators before you leave, and ride with your rear lights on through the haze hours, not just after dark.

A pair of Kroozer strobes on the tail gives traffic a sharp red pulse to pick out when the air goes flat and grey.

Visibility Watch: the haze season has opened over Delhi NCR. A layer of haze cut visibility across the capital this Wednesday morning as air quality slipped into the poor category for the first time in about 100 days, and the Air Quality Early Warning System expects it to worsen over the coming days (The Hawk, 21 Oct): https://www.thehawk.in/news/india/haze-blankets-delhi-ncr-air-quality-slips-into-poor-category

The lesson for riders: haze does not just sit in your eyes, it sits in everyone else's. It flattens contrast, so a bike fades into the grey of a car's mirror long before the car itself would. Mornings and evenings are the worst of it, and the forecast says this is the start, not the peak.

One practical step: ride like you have not been seen. Keep the headlight on, stay out of blind spots, and give the vehicle ahead more room than feels necessary.

A pair of red strobes on the tail is one way to stay a clear, moving signal when the air turns grey. That is the job our strobe light does all winter.

Visibility Watch: October is Motorcycle Awareness Month in New South Wales, Australia. The numbers behind the campaign are blunt: riders are just 3.7 percent of registered vehicles there, yet about one in five road deaths and almost a quarter of serious injuries. Report by the New England Times: https://www.netimes.com.au/2026/10/18/riders-urged-to-protect-themselves/

One detail worth noticing from the other side of the world: NSW now requires learner riders to wear a high visibility top on every ride. Being seen is treated as basic safety gear from day one, not an accessory.

The lesson travels. Most rider crashes happen where a driver turns, changes lanes or pulls into traffic without registering the bike. Before your next ride, look at your bike from behind and from the side the way a driver would, and ask what it shows them. If the answer is not much, fix that first.

A rear strobe light is one way to make your bike harder to miss. Be visible. Be home.

Visibility Watch: IMD has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal today, with heavy spells forecast over Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and south interior Karnataka through 20 October. Source: NewsOnAir, https://newsonair.gov.in/imd-issues-orange-alert-for-heavy-rainfall-over-tamil-nadu-puducherry-karaikal-today/

Heavy rain shrinks what drivers can see, and a rider is the smallest shape in that picture. If the ride cannot wait: slow down, switch your lights on early, leave a bigger gap to the vehicle ahead, and stay out of flooded stretches.

One takeaway for the week: check that your tail lamp and indicators actually work before you roll out. Being seen from behind is half the battle in rain.

Be visible. Be home.

Maharashtra's rain is not done yet. The IMD has a yellow alert out today for Raigad, Ratnagiri, Nashik, Pune, Satara, Kolhapur and Sangli: thunderstorms with lightning, showers and gusty winds, as a western disturbance meets a circulation sitting over northwest UP. Report from India.com: https://www.india.com/news/india/maharashtra-rainfall-imd-weather-update-thunderstorm-yellow-alert-mumbai-raigad-ratnagiri-nashik-pune-satara-kolhapur-sangli-8531071/

Late September thunderstorm rain lands in patches. You ride out of a bone dry street into a soaked one and back again within minutes, and every driver around you set their habits on the dry stretch they left home on. The first wet stretch is where their eyes and your tyres both need a reset.

The takeaway: treat every change of surface as a new road. Ease off as the tarmac darkens, brake earlier and more gently than feels necessary, and have your lights on before you reach the rain, not once you are inside it.

A bike that stays lit is easy to find, whatever the sky is doing. That is the job we build for at https://kroozer.co

Tamil Nadu's evening storm season is setting in. The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre forecasts rain with thunderstorms across some twenty districts today, including Chennai, with heavy rain warnings for Erode, Namakkal and Madurai on Tuesday and more for the Nilgiris belt through Wednesday (The Hans India): https://www.thehansindia.com/news/national/moderate-rain-forecast-across-tn-today-heavy-showers-likely-in-few-districts-from-tuesday-1126446

A thunderstorm is not monsoon rain. It gives you minutes, not hours, and those minutes are the trap. Everyone tries to beat the cloud home: cars speed up, pedestrians dash across, and every eye goes to the sky instead of the road. A rider threading through that rush is the last thing anyone is scanning for.

So do not race the cloud. Lights on at the first thunder, not the first drop. Ease off before the rain lands, and if it breaks hard, get fully off the road and let the burst pass. The forecasters' own advice holds too: never wait it out under a tree.
