In May 1972, the K-51E was brought to the NAMI auto testing ground for factory tests. The bus was driven extremely intensively: in six months, its speedometer added 40 thousand kilometers, although according to the test conditions it was required to pass only 25. During the summer, he traveled almost half of the Union, making a voyage along the route Avtopoligon - Leningrad - Riga - Brest - Chisinau - Odessa - Simferopol - Sevastopol - Novorossiysk - Sochi - Tbilisi - Ordzhonikidze - Mineralnye Vody - Elista - Volgograd - Kuibyshev - Ufa - Chelyabinsk - Sverdlovsk. However, one of the reasons for the overrun is mundane: poor quality. Already at the initial stage of testing on the cobblestone road of the landfill, the base of the body of the bus broke, so it had to be driven for alteration. It turned out that it was not welded from the pipes that were required according to the drawing. Then the K-51E was returned to the landfill again and the program was rolled out on the cobblestone in a double volume.
