Embrace the winter!

Need some help deciding what to wear for winter? See below:

1. Start by wearing a winter base layer. Wearing a base layer is the foundation that will ensure sweat moves away from the skin, stopping you from getting cold and wet.

2. By choosing a long sleeve breathable winter jacket you are again stopping your body from retaining the sweat and giving that “boil in the bag” feeling. Our insulated jackets from Shutt Velo are perfect for keeping comfortable and dry.

3. Wearing a gilet is also essential to block out wind chill. Wear it at the begging of your rides to warm up, zip it down whilst climbing (it can get hot!) and zip it back up for descending.

4. The only option to keep your legs warm in Ireland’s winters is to use thermal bib tights. The 4 way stretch, insulated fabric in the Shutt Velo bib tights and ergonomic padding are a comfortable choice for long days in the saddle.

4. Your hands and feet are the first parts to get cold and once they are it’s difficult to heat them back up whilst your bodies main focus is to keep the core warm. Insulated windblock gloves and thermal neoprene overshoes from Shutt Velo will ensure you can take on the winter elements.

We have plenty of options to cater for your winter cycling from other brands too! Pop in for some advice to help you continue cycling without having to worry about the weather.

Hi folks!! Theme today is tires.
Bike tires, there are several important specifications and factors to consider. Here are some key aspects:

Tire Size: Bike tire sizes are typically indicated by a combination of two numbers, such as 26x2.1 or 700x35. The first number refers to the diameter of the tire, while the second number represents the tire width in millimeters.
Tire Type: There are different types of bike tires designed for specific purposes:
Road Bike Tires: These tires are typically narrow and smooth, offering low rolling resistance for speed on paved surfaces.
Mountain Bike Tires: Mountain bike tires come in various tread patterns for off-road use, providing traction and stability on different terrains.
Hybrid/City Bike Tires: These tires are a combination of road and mountain bike tires, offering versatility for both urban and light off-road riding.
Tubeless or Tubed: Some bike tires are tubeless, meaning they do not require an inner tube. Instead, they create an airtight seal with the rim, allowing you to run lower tire pressures, improve traction, and reduce the risk of pinch flats. Tubed tires, on the other hand, require an inner tube to hold the air.
Durability and Weight: Tire durability and weight can vary depending on the intended use. Some tires are designed to prioritize puncture resistance and durability, while others focus on lightweight construction for improved speed and agility.
When choosing bike tires, consider your riding style, terrain, weather conditions, and personal preferences. It's also essential to consult the manufacturer's recommendations and seek advice from bike experts or local bike shops to find the most suitable tires for your needs

Hi folks! Happy Friday (:
Today we are going to start share a bit of our knowledge about bicycles with our virtual community.
Today theme is : FRAMES!

A bicycle frame is the main structure of a bicycle, which supports the rider and all other components, such as the wheels, pedals, handlebars, and saddle. The frame is usually made of metal, such as steel, aluminum, or titanium, and its design and materials have a significant impact on the bike's weight, strength, and ride quality.
There are several types of bicycle frames, including road bike frames, mountain bike frames, and city bike frames, each designed to meet the specific needs of different types of cycling. For example, road bike frames are lightweight and aerodynamic for speed and efficiency on smooth roads, while mountain bike frames are strong and durable for off-road riding.
Bicycle frames can also be classified by the way they are constructed, such as monocoque, where the frame and other components are made as a single unit, or lugged, where metal tubes are fitted into sockets or lugs.
The size and shape of the frame, along with the material and construction, are critical factors in determining the overall performance and feel of a bicycle.
