The Four Key Restrictions (Catur Brata Penyepian): No fire/light (Amati Geni), no work (Amati Karya), no travel (Amati Lelunganan), and no entertainment (Amati Lelanguan).

Purpose: A day for self-reflection, purifying the soul, and calming the world.

Airport Closure: Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport closes, and no flights arrive or depart for 24 hours.

Atmosphere: The streets are empty and dark, creating a rare atmosphere of serenity and a vibrant night sky.

2025 wasn’t easy, but it taught with patience, resilience and the importance of trusting our own journey. 2025 came with lessons I didn’t ask for, but growth I truly needed. We learned that progress doesn’t always look loud, but it always counts. Through challenges, setbacks and small wins. Some days were about surviving, others about believing. Bali’s Day of Silence. Happy Nyepi Day -2023 😇✨

Nyepi is a day for the Hindu Balinese to dedicate themselves completely to connect more deeply with God (Hyang Widi Wasa) through prayer, fasting and meditation. Acts of introspection of the Self, to evaluate the personal values they would bring into the new year.

The entire island is “closed”, including the airport as there will be no incoming or outgoing flights. The roads are off limited, as everyone is expected to stay indoors for 24 hours. Because no one should be out and about, you’re prohibited from entering any beaches, and all restaurants, grocery stores, and other types of shops will be closed for everyone. Although Nyepi is primarily a Hindu holiday, non-Hindu residents and travelers in Bali observe the day of silence as well, out of respect for their fellow citizens.

To ensure that all the rules are obeyed, local guards known as Pecalang (Nyepi Police) are deployed all over the Island, patroling their respective areas. The only exceptions are life-threatening conditions and women in labor as hospitals will still be open.
