FJ與BJ的演變：Land Cruiser 40系列自1960年推出，早期大多搭載汽油引擎（如FJ40）。到了1974年，豐田為了應對全球石油危機及市場對高扭力越野車的需求，推出了搭載 B系列柴油引擎 的 BJ40
“Evolution of the FJ and BJ: The Land Cruiser 40 Series was introduced in 1960, with early models mostly powered by gasoline engines (such as the FJ40). In 1974, to address the global oil crisis and the market demand for high-torque off-road vehicles, Toyota launched the BJ40 equipped with the B-series diesel engine.”
