When replacement isn’t the only option 🔧
This Aston Martin trim was damaged beyond a simple cosmetic fix, with the replacement part on back order, no confirmed ETA and a price tag of over £500.
Rather than automatically writing the part off, we wanted to see what could be done with the original.
I carefully rebuilt the broken sections, using a screw shaft as a temporary internal support and panel bonding adhesive to structurally secure everything back together. Once cured, the repair can be refined, prepped and painted ready to go back on the car.
I’d finished the repair, but unfortunately the bonding wasn’t fully cured by the time I had to wrap up, so I couldn’t get the final painted and fitted result photographed yet.
Still, I wanted to share the process because this is exactly the sort of work I enjoy — finding solutions where others might simply say “you need a new part.”
Not every damaged trim piece needs to go straight in the bin. Sometimes it just needs a bit of patience, creativity and the right repair approach. 👌
