Two weeks till our Bank Holiday Powerboat Taster Sessions. 31st August

These one hour taster sessions let you get behind the controls of our 8 metre, 325hp RIB and have a go at driving.

No Experience required and all you need is a good level of fitness and to be 1.4 metres or above.

On a typical session, we get you straight onto the controls as we exit the harbour, then everyone gets to grips with driving the boat at slow speeds before we open the throttle and head out to Chequers Fort and the resident seals (not guaranteed!) with a few S and U turns thrown in for good measure.

These sessions are incredibly popular and every year we get some great feedback. Running throughout the day on Monday the 31st.

Book your session now.

Done your Powerboat Level 2?

Every year thousands of people do their level 2 and many of them never go onto use their qualification again. Its a great course!! 2 days on the water, driving a powerboat in a variety of conditions and locations. Something a lot of people have never done before.

But what are the options afterwards? Some use it for work, some to get their ICC but for a lot of people there is no clear route forwards, owning a powerboat isn't cheap and there's a lot that goes into it, from maintenance and servicing to insurance and berthing.

In our latest blog, we look at options to get on the water and keep your skills fresh whilst you decide where you want to go with your powerboating. From trips to Durdle Door and Portland Bill, to night navigation and rough weather boat handling.

If your not sure of your options, give us a ring and we can chat you through some of them.

A huge number of people take the RYA Powerboat Level 2 course each year. Some do it because they have bought, or are thinking of buying, their own boat. Some want the International Certificate of Competence. Others have ...

Worth a read, unfortunately, whilst these things shouldn’t happen, they still do!!
A killcord and lifejackets make so much difference.

Today, we've published our report and safety flyer on the investigation into the allision of the rigid inflatable boat Peaky Blinder with a navigation beacon in Portsmouth Harbour, England resulting in two fatalities on 14 August 2025.

* Drinking and driving afloat ruins lives just as much as on the road.

* Excessive speed, alcohol and no lifejackets proved a fatal combination in Portsmouth Harbour.

* Recreational boaters: stay sober, slow down, and wear a PFD every time.

* Sober operation, safe speed, and lifejacket wearing are basic protections that save lives on the water.
