With only a few weeks before the historic event, we thought we would get the Buckland ready to race at Goodwood Revival 2016. It was a mamouth task, but we pulled out all the stops and worked straight through to completed the project in time to race at Goodwood 62 years ago to the very same day it last raced there.

It has been a privilege to have owned PAR 419 and to have been responsible for unearthing its impressive history, but this week the AC Buckland went to a new home. Admitting that I do not have the time or funds to get the car back on the road in the foreseeable future has been difficult, but I'm very happy to announce that it has gone to an extremely good home. AC Heritage now have the task of restoring PAR 419 to its former glory and I have no doubt that the car will be seen back at Goodwood before too long! AC Heritage will soon take over this page, but in the meantime I would like to thank everyone for their support and kind words during my period of ownership. Regards, Martin Port.

We first posted this picture back in January, but thanks to an email from John Page (father of Classic & Sports Car's deputy editor and motorsport encyclopedia James Page), we now know that the car chasing our AC Buckland down is Peter Binns in a Vauxhall 30/98 special. A look at the notes accompanying the negatives confirm this, but John also informed us that P Binns won the inaugural Pomeroy Trophy in the car back in 1952. Do any VSCC members know if the car still exists?

More progress on the AC Buckland as bits of bodywork are slowly cleaned up and put back in place. Although they will have to come back off again at some stage, it's important to check the alignment as new pieces of ash are made for the frame beneath. It's also a bit of a morale booster as it starts to look more like a complete car again!

Two days, two new photographs of the AC - this one courtesy of the Motoring Picture Library at Beaulieu. Another Silverstone Eight Clubs event but this one taking place on 2 June 1956 - almost three years later to the day from yesterday's offering. They have also turned up another of ACOC member number one, George Griggs behind the wheel. © Motoring Picture Library

Despite searching through the LAT photographic archives for the last seven years looking for pictures of PAR419, I somehow managed to overlook this particular shot which came to light today. This is Harold Day at Silverstone on 6 June 1953, competing at an Eight Clubs event, wearing number 62. © LAT Photographic

Some sections of ash are on the way so I can make new A-pillars, but in the meantime I've removed the AC's fuel tank. Here it is, along with just some of the rust that fell out when turned upside down...

The good news: floor sections now all cut - just need the profiles blending on the sloping sections. The bad news: I found some more rot in the offside ash A-pillar so I shall have to make a new post before moving on to the bulkhead as planned. Two steps forward, one step back...

Front floor sections finally being cut and put in place. Each part is very slightly different of course, but that's the 'beauty' of hand-built, low-volume classics! Then it's time to move on to the bulkhead bracing which will be far more challenging...

There are plenty of pictures of PAR 419 on the track but here's a rare one of the first owner, Harold Day taking part in an auto gymkhana in the early 1950s. Not entirely sure what he's trying to balance on the end of that stick!
