As you’re aware, National Day has been postponed until the 6th September. However as things stand, although restrictions are starting to be lifted, events such as National Day are still not permitted. To put on a show such as National Day requires lots of commitments to be made well in advance, and certainty that the event will go ahead is of paramount importance when making those commitments. Fundamental uncertainty about whether events will be permitted is why most clubs and organisations have already taken the decision to cancel their events this year.
Unfortunately the committee do not believe therefore that a successful National Day in its normal format is now feasible this year, and that view is reinforced by the fact that traders who have supported the club for many years have already informed us they will not be attending if it does go ahead.
If restrictions are lifted then we do believe an event of some sort is still possible though, and it’s our aim to still run a meeting at Hatton World on 6th September. This will be on the basis of a simple get together rather than a full blown show though. This will be a chance for you to take your cars out and stretch their legs if you want, meet up with other enthusiasts, and camp over the night before if you wish. It will essentially be an old fashioned pub style meet up, and there will be no entrance fee (except camping), no voting or spares, and it is unlikely there will be any traders present. The event will run from 9am until 2pm.
We believe that this is the only realistic option in order to hold some sort of event in 2020, and we will look to celebrate our big anniversaries in style next year. It must be stressed though that even this style of event will only go ahead if government guidelines allow. We will have to cancel completely if the restrictions haven’t been lifted by September.
At the moment Hatton Shopping Village is open, but with reduced hours, and Hatton Adventure World is operating on a fixed time slot basis (3 per day) and they are only accepting pre-booked on-line payments.
The club AGM will now not be held on the 5th September as planned, and we will communicate details of the new arrangements shortly.
Clearly this is not what we wanted in our big year, but we will come back bigger and stronger next year.
