A warm welcome to Bella, the newest addition to the Storyy family!

Our Head Office team have been enjoying some quality time with Bella the Cavapoo, and she has certainly been stealing the spotlight.

From brightening up meetings to providing plenty of tail wags and cuddles, Bella has already become a firm favourite around the office.

A huge part of the support across our Milton Keynes provision is helping young people feel calm, safe and emotionally settled enough to engage again 💙

That’s one of the reasons horses became part of the provision! For some young people, talking openly about how they’re feeling can feel overwhelming. What’s been really powerful is seeing how much calmer and more comfortable some young people become when animals, particularly horses, are involved.

Even simply being around them can help reduce anxiety, support emotional regulation and make conversations feel less pressured.

Therapeutic support doesn’t always have to look traditional to make a real difference ✨

A huge thank you to Upton Court Grammar School School for welcoming Storyy Education in to deliver anti-bullying assemblies for both KS3 and KS4 students 👏
The sessions were adapted for each age group to make sure the conversations felt relevant, engaging and meaningful for the young people involved.

Following the assemblies, Anthony Smith, Assistant Headteacher & SENDCo, shared this lovely feedback:

“Lee delivered a highly engaging and impactful anti-bullying assembly for both KS3 and KS4 students. The content was thoughtfully adapted to suit each age group, ensuring it was relevant, age-appropriate, and meaningful for all students. Lee communicated confidently and connected well with the audience, using relatable examples that kept students attentive throughout.”

It’s always great to hear when important conversations like these have a positive impact on students 💙

Recently at our Supported Accommodation (16+), young people organised their own activity evening, choosing a group cooking session as the activity of choice.

The evening started with planning and budgeting, checking what ingredients were already available before creating a shopping list and heading out to buy the remaining items. Back at the house, everyone worked together to prepare and cook a chicken dish packed with herbs and vegetables.

Once everything was ready, everyone sat down together to enjoy the meal and spend time as a group.

The verdict? "Banging", "Slap" and "Well good"! 😄

Activities like these help develop independence, budgeting, teamwork and everyday life skills, all while creating positive shared experiences.

Recently at our primary provision, the topic focus has been weather, with young people exploring everything from clouds to flooding through interactive activities.

There was plenty of creativity throughout the week, from making and labelling different cloud types to designing Lego houses and testing whether they could withstand a flood. Young people also explored the water cycle through a practical science experiment and took part in discussions about different types of weather.

Activities like these help turn learning into something memorable, encouraging curiosity, teamwork and problem-solving along the way. 🌍

At Storyybrook, every child is supported as an individual, and that’s something Carly, one of our Behaviour Mentors, is really passionate about 💙

Working within our Primary provision, Carly helps children build confidence, feel more settled in education and take positive steps forward at their own pace.

One of the things Carly loves most about her role is seeing the progress children make over time, whether that’s feeling more comfortable coming into provision, building trust in adults or becoming more confident ahead of moving into Secondary school.

Every child’s journey looks different, but seeing those small moments of growth is what makes the work so rewarding 👏

A lot of people still see Alternative Provision as something that only happens once things have reached crisis point, but often the biggest difference comes from supporting young people much earlier.

Changes in attendance, anxiety, behaviour or engagement don’t usually happen overnight, and recognising those early signs can make a huge difference to a young person’s long-term outcome.

Our latest article looks at why early intervention matters, and how calm, structured and relationship-led support can help young people reconnect with education before challenges become more overwhelming.

Recently at our Trades provision, young people have been developing a range of practical skills while working towards AQA achievements.

One young person has been learning the fundamentals of bricklaying, including measuring and marking out, mixing mortar, laying bricks evenly and maintaining alignment throughout a build. Alongside this, they have developed patience, accuracy and an understanding of health and safety on site.

Another young person has been working towards entry-level AQAs in carpentry, building confidence using hand and power tools, measuring and cutting materials, and assembling projects with precision.

We've also been creating wildlife habitats, combining woodworking skills with an understanding of conservation and caring for the environment. From planning and measuring to building weather-resistant shelters, it's been fantastic to see practical skills put into action.

A great example of learning through doing, building confidence and developing skills for the future.
