This is really important. Do not leave any pets in a locked caravan.
🌞 Important Reminder from Palins Holiday Park : Keep Pets Safe in Hot Weather! 🌞
With a heatwave this week, we want to remind all our guests about the serious dangers of leaving dogs or other pets in holiday caravans or cars - even for a short time.
🔹 Why It’s Dangerous 🔹
- Caravans and cars can become dangerously hot in minutes. On a mild 22°C (72°F) day, the inside temperature can soar to over 47°C (117°F) in under an hour - even with windows open.
- Dogs can suffer fatal heatstroke in as little as 15 minutes in a hot vehicle or caravan.
- Opening windows does not keep your pet safe - studies show it has little effect on the temperature inside.
🔹 What You Should Do 🔹
- Never leave your dog or pet unattended in your caravan or car during warm weather.
- Always take your pet with you, or make arrangements for them to stay in a cool, shaded area with plenty of water.
- If you see a pet in distress, alert our staff immediately so we can help.
🔹 Signs of Heatstroke in Pets 🔹
- Excessive panting or drooling
- Lethargy or uncoordinated movements
- Vomiting or collapse
If you notice any of these signs, seek veterinary help immediately. A dog’s normal body temperature is about 38.3–39.2°C (101–102.5°F), but if it rises above 41°C (106°F), heatstroke can cause organ failure or death.
Let’s work together to keep all our furry friends safe and comfortable this summer.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
