BODA AT RETROMOBILE 3rd to 7th FEBRUARY 2016: CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS
We do need volunteers helping to staff the stand, based we think, around ½ day shifts to give people plenty of time to look around.
If you would like to volunteer to help (and of course get free show passes) could you let either Norman Shirlaw ([email protected] 020 7402 7950 / 07881 953338) or myself, Michael Barton [email protected] 01524 33476 / 07801 538170) know. We are hoping for sufficient volunteers to allow a maximum of 2 shifts per person but do volunteer even if you can only make one day.
Wednesday 3rd February 2016 sees the opening of the 41st Annual Retromobile show in Paris, France. This is a prestigious show attracting people and cars from all over the world but has managed to stay as an inclusive event with very substantial spares, parts and restoration areas supporting Car Clubs and Classic Car Dealers, as well as 3 International Auctions timed to coincide.
Having visited in 2014 and 2015 I can promise that you will see cars and hear stories that you’ve never seen or heard before.
The show operates on a different format from UK shows and our Club stand has sufficient space to accommodate only one car. Andy Gibbs has volunteered to take his stunningly restored Bristol 400, which we think will suitably introduce the Bristol story to the international scene. We will be supported by the Bristol Owners Heritage Trust who plan to bring along interesting artefacts.
The show is open for 5 days, closing on Sunday 7th February. Hours are 10am till 7pm (9 hours) with extended opening till 10pm on the Wednesday and Friday (12 hours).
There are a number of options as far as hotel type accommodation is concerned and we will co-ordinate nearer the time. Return rail fares from London at £64 or so mean the adventure can be accomplished on a modest budget.

More space for exhibitors, more comfort for visitors, more reasons to buy, to dream, to find out information and to admire new and old products at the countless booths. More artists, more clubs, more federations, more spare parts and scale model vendors, more events organisers, more restorers, coachbuilders and car sellers doing their level best to satisfy visitors from the four corners of the world. And there are even more surprises that only this show can offer. Heritage and history meet at Retromobile, where the entire dedicated team is eager to welcome you.

National Car Show 2012

This was the first year that BODA had a stand at the Classic Car Show at the NEC. We were partnered with the BOC on adjacant stands so there was a great gathering of Bristols for the public to feast their eyes on. Kevin Fee brought his 401 down from Newcastle, Cyril Millward brought his 405 from ‘distant’ Solihull and the team from Brabazon brought the Sir George White 410 from Bristol.

This gave a great spread of cars which really did justice to the mark. We were supported by Bob Bradbury from Saxon Design who provided the backdrop which did rather raise the whole tone of the stand. If anyone needs a great exhibition display, do think of Bob and his team. The stand was supported each day by a wide range of members coming from all parts of the UK. We were all kept very busy informing people of the real joy of Bristol ownership.

During the 3 days, a number of new members joined the Association, including a new member from Austria and Hungary who has a number of later Bristols. He had some interesting tales of the period of change in Hungary and the value of having a Bristol, while the Mercedes and Audis were being stolen within week of arrival, no-one bothered with his Bristols.

Thanks to contacts with a number of other clubs, we were able to source some rare light units for the early cars while also finding sources of remanufactured light units which also fit some of the V8′s. We were also able to display some of the parts which we can supply including gaskets, oil pumps, exhaust nuts, throttle linkage plates, door handles among other parts.

We hope to repeat the exercise in 2013, so put the date in your diary and think about coming to help on the stand, all enthusiasts are wlcome.
