Day 10 of our ongoing project - a 1977 Yamaha TZ750D, undergoing a 'light touch', mechanical restoration. A thoroughly motivating milestone has been achieved; installing our newly refurbished forks and shock. Special thanks to Andy and Sarah from Tempest Revivals for the forks, sporting fresh lowers, with rechromed stanchions, new seals, dust caps and oil. Their service included a welcome hand fitting the front end back on - thank you. The rear shock was rebuilt similarly by Mike from Abel Suspension. Another neat job. We've used him a few times this year, highly recommend. Final thanks go to Martin 2XT, for helping manhandle the engine in last week, cheers buddy. We're getting closer to the first start up in 40 years! Passionate about two-strokes? Think Gecko🦎 www.geckomotorcycles.co.uk

Day 9 of our ongoing project - a 1977 Yamaha TZ750D, undergoing a 'light touch', mechanical restoration. Ultrasonic clean of the carbs, starting with a Scotchbrite pad, brake cleaner and then into the bath of cleaning solution. We also took the opportunity to note down the jetting from when the bike last ran in the early 1980s. Thought we'd share this as it may help someone else. On our bike with TZ125 3V3 powerjet carbs, we found 290 main jets, 60 pilot, 60 powerjet, no2 slide, 6DH3 needle on the second clip. Amazingly, apart from a little dried two-stroke oil, the only blockage was in one powerjet, the rest were fine. This weekend we will install our newly refurbished forks and shock. We're getting closer to it's first start up in 40 years! Passionate about two-strokes? Think Gecko🦎 www.geckomotorcycles.co.uk

Day 8 of our ongoing project - a 1977 Yamaha TZ750D, undergoing a 'light touch', mechanical restoration. Can you guess what we are up to with these hardened inlet manifold rubbers? An old school fix is a 4 to 1 mix of Wintergreen oil and 70% strength alcohol, to renovate stiff or hardened rubber products. The alcohol acts a means of transfering oil deep into the rubber and softening them. This technique can be a lifesaver if, like these manifolds, the part is obsolete. This weekend we will install the refurbished forks and shock, ready for it's first start up in 40 years! Passionate about two-strokes? Think Gecko🦎 www.geckomotorcycles.co.uk

Day 7 of our ongoing project - a 1977 Yamaha TZ750D, undergoing a 'light touch', mechanical restoration. Today we fitted new reed blocks, as these are still available new. If you compare the new design (they are the same fitment as an RD350) to the original TZ750, you'll see they are very similar. The only change is the reed stopper plate has holes, which we hope will give a marginal performance improvement. Even if they don't, they are shiny and will last another 20 years! This weekend we will install our refurbished forks and shock, ready for it's first start up in 40 years! Passionate about two-strokes? Think Gecko🦎 www.geckomotorcycles.co.uk

Day 6 (or is it day 60?) of our ongoing project - a 1977 Yamaha TZ750D, undergoing a 'light touch', mechanical restoration. We paused work for a few months, as we sent the forks and rear shock away to be recommissioned. Suspension parts are important, so on this we have the mantra 'a good job is better than a fast job'. The forks and shock are now ready, so it was time to refit the engine and replace the tyres. This weekend we will install the refurbished forks and shock, ready for it's first start up in 40 years! FOR SALE: 1996 VJ23 Suzuki RGV250 full power exhausts & end can silencers. These are the 'export model' unrestricted exhausts, fitted only to the limited edition 'full power' bikes. These bikes had two black VIN tags on the chassis near the headstock and were limited to 300 units only. Making these exhausts very rare and sought after. Intenally the exhausts have less noise baffling and are not resticted at the header. In the end can / silencer, the passegeways are larger and less convoluted, helping gas escape for more performance. Please check the codes stamped into each exhaust and end can (42E1-1L and 42E1-1R), they are different to the regular VJ23 exhaust / can set up. Enjoy the best of both worlds... a standard original look, with the performance of the full power bike.. Price is £750 plus shipping & taxes. We provide secure payment options, by credit card, Paypal or bank transfer and ship worldwide, by airmail with tracking. For more details, additional photos and information on shipping, please visit the Gecko website. Passionate about two-strokes? Think Gecko🦎 www.geckomotorcycles.co.uk
