In motorsports, is being fast good enough? Or does personality play just as big of a role? 🤨

Lap times and trophies define legacies but in a world of global scale fans and billion dollar sponsorships, charisma and fan connection can be just as powerful.

Take Daniel Ricciardo, never a world champion but still one of Formula One's most loved drivers.

Or Valentino Rossi, nine titles yet also has a massive following outside of MotoGP too.

Not to mention the greats of F1 PR- Senna and Alonso. They are definitive proof that greatness comes from both performance and presence.

The truth? It comes down to balance. Teams need speed but fans, media and brands often reward personality just as much.

So...in your opinion should we focus on only the fastest, or is personality what makes a true legend?

The 2025 season has bought about many special liveries for a range of different race weeks.

In this mix of liveries, there have been some stunning ones. However there have also been some misses from the design teams.

Haas, Suzuka- This was a massive success from Haas. The cherry blossom design really fit in with the Japanese Grand Prix setting and it was genuinely a very gorgeous livery. The pink and white was a switch up from the all red colour scheme previously. A fan favourite for sure.

VCARB, Miami- Fully pink and an insanely good marketing tactic for the newest Red Bull peach drink. It was new, clean and something unique. The design was stunning and the details were precise- even the wheels mimicking Red Bull cans. Perfection.

Ferrari, Miami- This was not a hit amongst fans at all. The essence of Ferrari was essentially overpowered by HP. The livery was one of the worst this year. Comments were even limited on the official announcement post allegedly due to the influx of comments.

McLaren, Monaco- It was not ugly by any means, just very simple and not very different from the usual livery. It didn't stand out to fans. Not bad, but not excellent.

These are just a few of the special liveries from the Formula 1 season so far. Do you have a favourite one?

Motorsports is tense. Whether its NASCAR or F1, there are going to be some rivalries and drama.

Throughout motorsport history, there have been some simply iconic ones.

Brocedes - One of the longest, and most tragic rivalries in Formula 1 history was between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, tearing their relationship apart. Although they don't admit any hard feelings (directly), it doesn't seem like they are any better today. During the Belgian Grand Prix, Rosberg was commentating. The only interaction we saw between the two was when Lewis Hamilton appeared to lower his umbrella so that he didn't make eye contact with his ex teammate. However, Hamilton sends Rosberg's daughter gifts every year, so no one quite understands what is going on...

Ford and Ferrari - This list would be incomplete without this iconic rivalry. The Ford vs Ferrari feud goes back into the 60s, where they were supposed to form an alliance. During the 11th hour, Enzo Ferrari backed out rather suddenly and this infuriated Henry Ford II; because of this, he vowed to destroy him in one of his favourite things - racing - which he did. What a rivalry.

Keselowski and Edwards - Modern NASCAR doesn't usually produce intense drama. However, this one was wild. In 2009, Keselowski clashed with a well known driver causing him to flip violently. Some more bumps happened over the next year until Carl Edwards purposely pushed him into walls and fences twice. The rivalry was luckily put to an end after the rookie's father commented on the situation - whether this is related to the feud stopping is unknown.

Motorsports brings drama and rivalries... and not all are resolved.

Ever wondered what really drives a winning race performance beyond the car and the driver?

The race engineer plays a huge role in every result. They’re the bridge between raw data and a stellar performance, making critical decisions in tense moments.

Here’s what sets great race engineers apart...

🧠 Expert Technical Knowledge- Knowing every detail is what matters. Race engineers obviously have to be more than just aware of the technicalities. This is what pushes results.

🔊 Clear Communication - They turn complex data into simple, effective direction. In high stress situations, a clear message is what every driver needs.

☁️ Adaptability - Every race is different, they have to stay sharp and flexible. Many things can happen that go against set plans. Whether it is the pouring rain, or an unexpected error in the pitlane, they have to be quick thinkers.

🥇 Confident Decisions - Sometimes the right call isn’t in the numbers, it’s in experience. Judgement and years of training and action go hand and hand when pushing their driver to the best track position possible.

🤝 Driver Trust - Success depends on a strong, honest relationship with the person in the cockpit. As years go by, the driver and race engineer form a relationship. Communication styles are understood, and the race engineer can tailor anything for their driver.

They’re problem solvers, managers, and performance leaders all packed into one person.

🚨 The Halo Has Saved Lives in F1 🚨

Since its introduction in 2018, the Halo has gone from controversial to crucial. It’s saved drivers in dramatic, potentially fatal crashes.

- Charles Leclerc (Spa 2018): Halo deflected a flying wheel away from his cockpit, possibly saving his life.

- Romain Grosjean (Bahrain 2020): Survived a fiery crash through a barrier-Halo kept his head protected from the barrier.

- Lewis Hamilton (Monza 2021): Verstappen’s car landed on top of him where the Halo took the hit.

- Zhou Guanyu (Silverstone 2022): Slid upside-down into barriers. Luckily the Halo prevented direct head impact.

It’s not just innovation, it’s life-saving design.

The Halo has saved many lives in Formula 1 and it is hard to imagine F1 without it; but when it first appeared drivers hated it, fans mocked it, and many even booed it. So, how did it go from hated to heroic? Why it was Introduced After fatal accidents like Jules Bianchi (2014) and Henry Surtees (20...

There is more to motorsports than just Monaco... 👀

While circuits like Monza, Silverstone and Spa get all the attention, there are dozens of under-appreciated gems that serve up just as much drama, beauty and brilliance. Perhaps even more.

Let's give some love to the unsung heroes:

Mugello- Italy's high speed masterpiece. This is a MotoGP favourite that F1 and others criminally overlook.

Bathurst- Think Le Mans meeting up with Monaco at the club and you have Bathurst. The Aussie Mount Panorama is brutal yet simply legendary.

Knockhill- Short, wild and endlessly entertaining. It is a Scottish rollercoaster where both rain and adrenaline pumping moments are basically guaranteed.

Suzuka- A technical temple of racing. Loved by drivers and fans, feared by engineers, but rarely visited outside of the F1 calendar.

Drop your favourite underrated track in the comments!

The F1 Esports Championship has had it’s highs and lows as any championship does, but a quick analysis of their viewership over the last 9 years leaves us with the question of whether people are distancing themselves from the great digitalisation of what has always been an adrenaline-fuelled, live-action battle, or has the F1 Esports Championship finally found its prime viewership, looking to be of the younger generation, and has honed in on their niche?
