TIME LIMITS....⏰️

Putting a time limit on your driving journey (lessons) will only put pressure on you to want to pass quicker & possibly pass a test but not prepare you for AFTER your test.

✅️Driving is a SKILL FOR LIFE & you're in control of a killing machine, so surely understanding, gaining crucial knowledge & experience is more important ✅️ than ❌️'just wanting to pass a test'❌️

Once you've passed your test, keep wanting to improve your driving ✅️

Not everyone on the road drives safely......Be the one that is able to react in time to the ones that don't 👌

APPROACH TO JUNCTIONS/ROUNDABOUTS....

This is all about planning ahead on approach, not leaving it until the last second.

What's there?
How heavy is traffic?
Who is behind me?
Who is beside me?
Do I need to signal?
What lane/position?
What gear might I need?

All the above will help you to become a safer driver 👌

Tips for the TELL ME questions for your driving test....

When I go through these with my learners I always say....be animated with your answers because this is like giving yourself hints ✅️

If the question is about brakes, put your foot over the brake as you're explaining etc ✅️

If the question is about steering, hold the steering wheel & do the actions as you're explaining it ✅️

Don't just memorise them, understand them ✅️

TRAFFIC LIGHTS 🚦....

We know RED is stop.
We know GREEN is go (if safe to do so).

Many treat the AMBER traffic light as a gamble & speed up to get through it before it changes to RED, when in fact you should be preparing to stop unless you've already crossed the stop line or are too close to stop safely.

Don't be an 'AMBER gambler' ❌️
Be a 'Should of slowed when AMBER showed' ✅️

PRIORITY ON SOME ROADS....

We've all seen signs where priority is given either to us or to the oncoming traffic.
These are often on narrow roads & single-lane sections.

TYPES OF PRIORITY SIGNS:
*Give way to oncoming traffic = You must stop & wait for vehicles coming from the opposite direction to pass ✅️
*Priority over oncoming traffic = You have the right of way over oncoming traffic ✅️

BUT please remember....
UNDERSTAND priority but don't ASSUME priority 👌

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POTENTIAL HAZARD & DEVELOPING HAZARD....

POTENTIAL HAZARD:
Something that isn't a danger right now but could develop into one.
Example: Pedestrian walking safely along pavement.

DEVELOPING HAZARD:
Something that would make you react, like changing your speed or direction.
Example: Pedestrian on pavement steps off the kerb into road.

Some Instructors teach looking into mirrors every so many seconds 🤔

Some Instructors teach looking into mirrors every so many minutes 🤔

Some Instructors teach looking into your mirrors any amount of times but depends on your surroundings 🤔

I just want you to think about when you're driving anywhere & everywhere how everything around you can change & does change within seconds.

Be alert, stay alert 🙂👌

Having confidence with EVERY part of your driving....

Everywhere there are learners taking their driving tests in their own car.

It's either because....
*Family/friends have voiced how good they are.
*They're certain they're good enough.
*Their Instructor has said no to using their car.

The last one above is causing alot of concern. The reason we sometimes say you can't use our car for the driving test ISN'T because you can't drive, it's because we believe that there are still certain things that you need to improve on to be able to be & stay a safer driver.

We don't want to refuse our car, we just want safer drivers on the roads.

So no, we're not refusing the use of our car just for the fun of it, we're risk assessing your future driving.

UNDUE HESITATION....
COULD of gone or SHOULD of gone?

This happens when you delay taking action when it is completely safe to go & is very common when learning to drive.

Examples:
*At roundabouts - Slowing down too much or even stopping when there's no approaching traffic on your right.
*Junctions - Not moving out when there's a safe large gap in moving traffic.

How to fix the above examples 🤔
Plan ahead/Observe early✅️
Regular practice✅️
It's ok to wait if you feel it's unsafe but don't be over cautious✅️
